Four Rich Women Need Complete Excitement In Their Lives

Shadows Of Mayday #24: Soraya, Veronica, Madison and Alison #1: Coming from different walks of life, these four became close friends

Start reading here

The idea for an overseas trip came up one night when the four friends went out to the theater. Halfway through the play, they were bored. They left during the break and went to a nearby bar for a couple of drinks.

The more they had to drink, the more they complained about their boring lives. They were all life partners of successful men. Those men preferred their wives being part of several high society clubs instead of working traditional jobs.

It was just that the glamour of high society had long worn off. What they did for the clubs was becoming more of a drag every day.

They had no fun in their lives.

“Let’s go to South Africa!” Madison suddenly said.

“Yes!” Soraya and Veronica said in chorus.

The three of them looked at Alison, who was silent a while longer.

“I think it’s a good idea,” Alison said, and her voice was enough to bring the other three back to earth.

“But?” Madison asked, with a frown wrinkling her forehead.

“We should start with going away for a week,” Alison said.

“But whyyy-yyy-yyy,” Madison moaned.

“Because we might not be compatible for a long holiday together,” Alison said matter-of-fact.

“Why not?” Veronica asked. “We are friends, after all.”

“Yes,” Alison said, “we are, and we spend a lot of time together, but we’ve never stayed overnight. Not even for one night. Let’s rent a house in a holiday park for a week or ten days. If things go wrong for whatever reason, we go home. If all goes well, we book a trip to South Africa.”

The other three women thought about her words.

Soraya was the first to speak.

“Alison has a point.”

The others nodded.

A month later, they were in a house together up north. Their husbands had all frowned on this idea, but agreed, as they never refused their wives anything.

Alison was married to the director of an international laboratory.

He started the independent medical laboratory some years ago. All his peers said it was too small and starting a company was too much of a risk in the current economic climate.

He didn’t listen but went ahead and within two years, he owned one of the best known labs in the country. His company grew. He had to take on more people and move to another building.

The company caught the attention of foreign customers. It grew in sales and personnel, and they had to move yet again.

It was then Alison’s husband decided they should find a house in the upper-class part of town, where he could entertain customers in a classy environment. It took a while for the couple to get used to moving around in the social circles of higher society.

Their son, however, quickly made new friends at school.

Eventually, the parents of those friends invited Alison and her husband to dinner parties. Soon they were part of the ‘in-crowd’.

Veronica and her husband were high school sweethearts. Both grew up in the neighborhood where Alison came to live and never left. Their house was only three blocks from the house where Alison and her husband started their high society lives.

Veronica’s husband worked as a bank manager and his days were much longer than normal office hours.

To fill the hours of her day, Veronica volunteered for different charity associations. She had a lot of time on hand, as they had no children. Their childlessness was a conscious decision.

Veronica was chair of the Christmas association and treasurer of the tennis club. She also worked for two other clubs where she helped to organize different social events. Veronica was always on the run, always busy, and barely saw her husband because of his long days.

They were still in love and content with the life they had chosen for themselves, but their sex life was almost non-existent.

Madison’s husband was a politician. He planned to run for prime minister one day, but to get there, he had to work hard. He frequently traveled across the country and slept in different hotels while Madison was at home with their twin daughters.

When their girls were still younger, Madison didn’t mind being at home without her husband. The young ones kept her busy.

However, once the girls grew up and went out with friends, Madison was home alone and that bored her. To counter the boredom, she threw herself into the high society club life. She spoke to her husband about finding a job and do something constructive every day, but he refused. He suggested for her to travel with him, but Madison wasn’t interested in politics. She figured if he ever got to be the prime minister, there would be time enough to stand at his side and smile as if she knew enough about his politics and what he stood for.

Soraya was born in Brazil. She met her husband when he traveled there for business. He worked for a construction company and investigated projects before they invested.

Soraya had worked as a chambermaid in the hotel where he stayed. They couldn’t keep their eyes off each other. By the time he left after one week, he gave her his business card and asked her how he could get in contact with her.

The only way to reach her was to call the hotel. He called her once a week and, a month later, he was back. This time, the sole purpose of his visit was to court Soraya.

He left again after three weeks, only to return three months later. This time, he traveled to Brazil to marry Soraya and take her back home with him.

Showered with love by her husband, Soraya quickly adapted to the different culture of the small European country. She had an outgoing personality and liked to connect with other people. Since her husband didn’t want her to work, she volunteered her services at different organizations. Not even giving birth to two kids could keep her from her work. She left the kids in the care of a nanny.

The four friends filled the first two days in their holiday house with shopping and swimming. By the third day, boredom set in. There were no new shops nearby to discover and frankly, after two days of shopping and buying unnecessary things, they didn’t want to go to the shops anymore. The women enjoyed swimming and relaxing, but they were so used to being busy all the time and sitting still for too long bothered to them.

On the fourth day, they stayed in the house, not in the mood to go outside because it rained. Halfway through the day, they sat in the lounge, sipping tea.

“I’m bored,” Alison said out loud what all of them were thinking. “We should find something exciting to do. Something fun. No shopping, though. I’ve seen enough shops in the last days.”

Soraya, who was the mischievous one, misinterpreted her words on purpose.

“Oh, you want excitement? I can give you excitement, lady, but I don’t think you’ll join me,” she smiled and winked at Alison.

“What do you mean?” Madison asked.

“Where can we go?” Veronica asked.

“We’re not going anywhere,” Soraya answered Veronica’s question first and then she looked at Madison, “and I mean, we can have our excitement right here. I just doubt whether you will have the guts to join me.”

“We’ll do anything,” the three others called out at the same time.

Soraya looked at them, one by one, and smiled.

“Anything?”

The three women all nodded.

Soraya stood up, walked to the television, and switched it on. Her friends looked at her, puzzled. She disappeared into the bedroom, which she shared with Veronica, and came back with her purse in her hand. Soraya sat down and reached for the remote control on the side table. She changed the channels on the television until she found what she was looking for.

“No, seriously,” Alison said, “the porn channel? Come on!”

“Ha! I thought you would do anything. See, I told you, you don’t have the guts!”

Soraya pointed the remote control toward the television to switch it off again.

“No,” Veronica stopped her, “leave it on.”

“Yes, leave it,” Madison agreed.

“What about you, Alison?” Soraya asked.

Alison nodded.

She didn’t want to admit to her friends she had frequently watched porn online when her husband worked late and her son was out with his friends. Porn, to her, was something to be ashamed of and not something you watched with your friends.
