Forest Folk: A Life Among the Creatures of the Woods

Reciprocal’s first week of November Prompt: Discovering Wildlife Wonders

fish caught by my husband photo taken by me

The last house I lived at was right in the middle of the forest. Nothing around by wildlife and trees. This is where I took my one photo of the sunset through the trees.

When I lived there I had seen some of the most beautiful animals.

Porcupine wanting to eat the wood off the side of my house. Photo taken by me.

This porcupine was coming night after night eating on our house. It was all wood around my house and this animal sure seemed to love its taste for some odd reason. We finally had to trap it and move it far away because it had ate a lot of the the front of my house. Was a big one know it is hard to tell from the photo.

This little guy came back a few days in a row to pound his beak on my house. These animals sure loved my house for some reason. I wasn’t complaining. Only thing I wish I had at my old house was a birdfeeder. The old owners left one at the house way off in the trees which I had filled but did not get the enjoyment of watching them eat like I do now.

This little squirrel peeked in the house and watched for a bit then he decided he needed to get a better view of things so he climbed a bit higher onto my screendoor.

Deer were a very common animal seen around my house. Their had been a trail in the forest leading into my fence from the old neighbors. The deer loved to follow that trail and come up to the fence.

One year when we were without electic for a week, our fence had been also broken because of a huge storm that blew through our area. that was when deer would come closer and into my backyard. I can not find those pictures anywhere though sorry.

This is a cub bear getting ready to climb up the tree. Just had to take a look and see what I was doing first. This happened to be two cubs playing up and down the tree there and momma bear is behind them coming to lay down by the tree while they play. I had a picture of the momma bear but it is very hard to see, I did not dare get close with her when she had babies.

Had cropped this photo way to much sometime over the years. But this tagged bobcat was in my backyard after the fence had broke down. So it was right next to my house. Can tell it had been through some rough times but overall looked pretty good. Has to be hard living in the wild and fighting for everything you need.

This is my times of living in wildlife with all the animals. It was like my home was not there to some animals, was pretty nice to get to see them closer then I normally word.

Hope you enjoyed seeing these animals as much as I had. An experience that is rarely can be seen by most.
