For All I Know, Everyone Who I Do Not Live with Has Been Kissing Someone with COVID-19
It’s not personal; it is a deadly virus.

“I’m not afraid of death; I just don’t want to be there when it happens.” ― Woody Allen
A Bit Paranoid
I am a bit paranoid. For the last two years, most of my immediate family has ducked, dodged, and avoided COVID-19. So don’t get all mad at me when we are in a small room together, and you see me double-masked. It is not personal; it’s just business, the business of staying alive and healthy.
I am all about living as long as I can and being as healthy as possible. Contracting COVID-19 does not support those goals. I do not buy that Omicron is not as deadly. Being infected with Omicron can still be fatal to someone who catches it.
As Omicron cases decline, people behave as if it is all over. Nope. It is not.
More People Are Dying Than Delta
“Even though the COVID-19 variant causes less severe disease for most people, the fact that it is more transmissible means more people are falling ill and dying.” — HuffPost, Omicron Drives US Deaths Higher Than In Fall’s Delta Wave
This is just a pause before the next variant comes along to f*ck up our lives. As long as there are populations of unvaccinated people around the world, COVID-19 variants will continue to emerge. COVID-19 anywhere is COVID-19 everywhere.
I am not taking my mask off this time. I brought in last time when we were innocent and thought that things could return to normal since we had figured out how to vaccine against the virus. COVID-19 asked Mother Nature to hold its beer and came through with both the Delta and the Omicron variants.
So, my plan is simple. As things return to normal, I will continue to wear my mask, social distance, and wash my hands. Oh, I will be out there amongst them, fully vaxed and boosted, but I will behave as if the next variant is already spreading.
The Rules
Don’t touch me.
Don’t stand close to me.
Don’t attempt to shake my hand.
Don’t get insulted if I cross to the other side of the street as you walk by.
Don’t be angry if I don’t come to your inside activity.
I’m not friendly, so please, don’t talk to me.
As far as I am concerned, anyone who is not in my immediate family has been kissing someone with COVID-19. You can treat me the same way or not. That is up to you.
Remember, I love you; I love you all, but I have not relaxed about this disease, so forgive my craziness and keep it moving.
