As I explained in my last piece about A.I. image failure, unexpected results can be endlessly comical and weird. I’m using DreamStudio, which is a token-based application, and I’m going through more tokens than I’d like to admit.
The image generator has trouble with certain prompts, and depending on the severity of the misinterpretation, the resulting images can be both funny and terrifying.

For an article about aliens, I needed images of a mythical, extraterrestrial race called the Tall, Whites. They supposedly look like extra-pale Scandinavians. I wasn’t able to get them as pale and ethereal as I wanted until I included the word “albino” in the prompt.

I eventually had enough images for my alien article, but I also had plenty of weird and creepy failures. At that point, the failures were all accidental. I get weird results no matter what, but for these images, I purposely entered stupid prompts. If I learned anything while creating the alien article, it’s that grey aliens and albinos in spacesuits look great in almost every situation.
Let’s face it, almost anyone looks good with a hamster or a baby chick, but this is especially true for albinos in spacesuits. See for yourself.

Let’s face it, being around adorable animals can be an emotional experience. The men in the previous images certainly appear thoughtful, but I find them a bit too stoic and hard to read. Albinos in space suits have feelings too! I wanted to feel what they felt. Once I added the words “laughing” or “crying” to the prompt, my wishes were granted.
