Flowers and fruit ripen as my balcony garden enters the summer

Zooming with my camera on lavenders, geraniums, petunias, and the growing tomatoes.

A heat wave has just hit Europe, and my balcony’s plants know it.

Days of dry wind, over 30 degrees Celsius and burning sun almost killed some plants. But for others, it all represented a chance to bloom and begin ripening their fruits.

Like for my petunia -which somehow survived from last summer- and one of the alyssums that propagate wildly on my balcony:

These and all other photographs by author Luciano Abriata.

Snapdragons and lavenders, both also growing wild on the balcony, are not only OK but actually seem to be enjoying the heat wave:

A simple purple zinnia and a geranium I bought when spring started are thriving too:

And the older tomatoes grow and begin to ripen, while the younger plants begin to bloom:

Summer is here.
