Poetry Prompt: The All-Time Classic Afternoon Snack
Finger Sandwich

Thank you, Niru, for the tag and Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她), for the prompt: your favorite kind of sandwich! If I had to pick a favorite, it would be a Finger sandwich — a bite-sized sandwich meant for afternoon teatime. The picture above is NOT exactly one, but I cannot find one on Unsplash, so it approximates.
Essentially, a Finger sandwich is usually made with white, thinly sliced bread, buttered and layered with delicate fillings featuring fresh vegetables — radishes, olives, cucumber, or watercress. The crust is neatly cut away before serving to create a perfect bite-sized compliment for tea and enjoyed in pleasant company — making for an absolute afternoon delight.
