Finally Say Goodbye To Sugar Cravings With This Delicious Strategy
And other tips from the Glucose Goddess

Ah, the sweet hit that comes from a few squares of Cadbury’s chocolate at around 3pm. The surge of satisfaction that arises from a sneaky mid-morning salted caramel muffin. Few things can match those simple joys.
As we know, however, reducing our sugar consumption is key to improving everything from our skin to our moods.
Is there a way to continue to enjoy carbs and even occasional treats without them having a severe impact on our health? Jessie Inchauspé, a French biochemist who goes by the title ‘Glucose Goddess’ seems to think so.
On her Instagram account and in her most recent book, the Glucose Goddess Method, she shares tricks that can help reduce your glucose spikes significantly. She explains that we don’t need to give up pasta or our penchant for profiteroles if we learn to work with our body and put in place strategies that regulate our insulin levels.
Her foremost suggestion is to switch to a savoury, protein-rich breakfast every morning — starting the day off without eating something sweet can greatly curb cravings, even if we choose to eat dessert later in the day.
This can be tricky for those of us who are accustomed to large bowls of granola with dried fruit, smoothies or even just a sugary hit of coffee.
If savoury breakfasts sound boring to you, it’s time to open your mind to the enormous world of options this presents.
- Omelettes seasoned with herbs, flavoured with creamed cheese and packed with veggies
- Peanut butter toast and avocado
- Tofu scramble with spices
- Dosas made with lentils (and other south Indian food such as idlis)
- Smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese
- Chickpea salad with chopped onion, tomato and coriander
- A simple lentil stew made with coconut milk
- Roasted veggie bowl with houmous
- Quinoa with seeds, chopped veggies and spices
What about those days where you’re feeling fancy and want to create a special brunch at home? Must you deprive yourself of a pretty pile of pancakes?
Definitely not. Try something my Mom put together on a recent visit to my parents: make your pancakes savoury. The pancakes featured below are made entirely from almond flour, eggs and milk (all of which are protein- rich). The delicious looking spread on top is vegan cream cheese fashioned from cashew nuts soaked overnight and ground into a paste with nutritional yeast.

Recipes for almond flour pancakes and cashew nut cheese abound online. The point is — making your breakfasts savoury doesn’t mean you need to miss out out on impressive, tasty dishes. Also, Jessie explains that if you need the taste of something sweet, you can for whole fruit at the end of your meal.
Try the savoury breakfast hack and you might be surprised at the difference it makes to your cravings. If you do benefit, Jessie has a number of other helpful tips for those of us whose love of cake runs deep.
The best thing about Jessie’s approach is her playful, relaxed approach to food. Her book makes it clear that food (including sweet food) is a source of joy for many of us and should stay that way.
Before you dismiss her advice as being too good to be true, try it yourself. Hundreds of her Instagram followers have benefitted significantly from her simple, easy to implement tips.
