Summary

Illumination invites fiction writers to join their community, offering support through a dedicated Quora channel, Slack workspace, and the creation of a fiction bio to enhance visibility and connect with readers.

Abstract

Illumination is extending an invitation to fiction writers to become part of their supportive community. By joining the Illumination Fiction Club on Quora and the #fiction-club channel on Slack, writers can network, share ideas, and support each other's work. Writers are encouraged to craft and publish a fiction bio to serve as an introduction on these platforms. This bio is a narrative piece that showcases a writer's work, background, and personality, and is seen as a powerful tool for increasing visibility and success. Additionally, writers are advised to create a mailing list and newsletter to maintain direct communication with their readers, with Substack being recommended as a user-friendly platform for this purpose.

At Illumination, we are always searching for new ways to support our writers.

Join Us On Quora

Illumination has created a channel on Quora where our community of fiction writers can get together and support each other.

We encourage you to join this channel and discover the other talented fiction writers on Illumination.

Next steps.

Write a Fiction bio, publish it at Illumination and post the link to Quora. This bio will serve as your introduction to the other writers there.

A fiction bio is a story introducing and articulating your fiction-related work.

Your writer biography is a powerful tool that you can use to improve your success as a writer. If you don’t already have one, I encourage you to write one.

Every Writer Should Do This Today

Be More Visible to Your Readers.

A Fiction Biography is Another Step Toward Visibility

Your readers want to know more about you.

Everyone’s fiction bio will be different as every writer has a different perspective. Be creative and show us who you are.

Items you may choose to include in your story are:

  • your writing background,
  • lists, and links to your fiction work,
  • photos and videos,
  • information about your writing platforms,
  • a link to your newsletter
  • and anything else your reader might find interesting.

Join Our New #fiction-club channel on Slack.

If you’re not yet a member of our Slack workspace, I recommend it.

Joining Slack at Illumination was worth it for me.

Many businesses use it for collaboration. They also use it to work on special projects or share ideas. At Illumination, we use Slack to get to know each other and provide support.

Slack Demystified at Illumination * How to Get Started

Once you’re a member, be sure to find the #fiction-club channel and find us there.

Once you’re there, you may initiate discussions, have private chats with your fellow writers, and share your fiction-related links.

Create a mailing list of your readers

In order to take control of your customers, fiction writers should have a mailing list and a newsletter. You may share a link to your newsletter on our Slack channel and increase your followers by inviting them to join your mailing list.

There are many ways to create a mailing list. I chose to use Substack because it was free, easy to set up and I can eventually set up a subscription for content I want to monetize.

Here’s my newsletter on substack. Have a look.

We’re here to support you and want you to be successful.

All we ask in return, is that you do the same.
