“I’ll take the second option,” you say to Lord Harbach, with very little hesitation. “It may be tough, but after what I’ve been through lately, I just want to get this over with! Get my debt paid.”

The thin, pale man smiles as he releases your cell door. “Very well,” he says, as you walk out into the dungeon corridor. “There is a specific item I need.”

“Which is…?”

He stares silently at you, then turns, and begins to walk along the corridor. “This object is to be found deep in the ruins to the far south west.”

“In the desert?” you exclaim, feeling alarmed.

“As you say.”

“But… that’s impossible! That area is uninhabited. Totally hostile.”

“Didn’t I say it would be challenging…?” he replies calmly. The corridor turns and meets a set of stairs, and Lord Harbach’s robes swish as he strides up them, still a step ahead, and not meeting your gaze. “There is a tomb in the ruins,” he continues. “A black door.”

You frown. “And inside?”

“I need a very specific jewel, shaped like a beetle. You will find it in the tomb of my ancestor. Seek the tomb marked ‘Harbach’, and you will find the jewel.”

“I will certainly try my best,” you murmur, wondering how you’ll survive a trip through the desert to uninhabited ruins, never mind hunting through the abandoned tombs!

“Good.” Lord Harbach now stops by a large double door, where a small, smartly-dressed goblin stands to attention, holding a canvas sack. The goblin now opens the door, revealing a dark, cloudy evening outside.

“Questions?” says Lord Harbach.

“I, well… I’m gonna need to buy some new equipment, and I don’t know how to get back to my Adventurers League.”

Harbach frowns, then gestures to the goblin. “There is no time for that,” he says, starting to walk away. “We obtained most of what you lost.” He takes a few paces down the hallway, then turns. “If you are successful, return here at once.”

“Your equipment, young adventurer,” puts in the goblin. He hands over the sack, and you find that it contains your previous possessions… but none of your silver.

Restore your previous items to your character sheet.
This applies even if they were confiscated (e.g. by prison) before your death.

“Now,” adds the goblin, “I will show you the first part of the route. After that, you’re on your own.”
