“I’ll heal this one,” says Lorenzo, then cackles. “Delighted. Just a small price to pay: one month in my service.”
“What?!” cries Dara.
As the blood mage laughs again, you see visions of a horrific future. Cruelty, torture, servitude…
Dara is frowning deeply. “Maybe I could try with those Apocynaceae flowers,” she mutters.
“Don’t risk it,” sneers Lorenzo.
“I gotta save my family,” you croak. “I can’t serve you for a month.”
“Well, that’s the price.”
You glance once more at the distant cabin. Its lights are homely and welcoming, but you know that without healing, you won’t last long…
