False Knowledge and the Willful Ignorance of the GOP

Beware of false knowledge it is more dangerous than ignorance — George Bernard Shaw.
That Mr. Shaw had a way with words, didn’t he? Over the past couple of years we’ve had some rather striking examples of what he was talking about. Maybe it’s just one big never ending alternate reality, to be politically correct. It certainly is dizzying to try to follow the rhyme and, much less, the reason that some of these theories can even exist. For some of the theorized outcomes to come to pass would require a redo of some hundreds of years of history. Not to mention having laws that just do not exist simply because laws to allow an election to be nullified would be counterproductive to profit and loss. The uncertainty generated by even mild uncertainty generates losses to the market. To nullify an election would bring worldwide markets to a near (if not complete) halt. That will not take place. An alternative way of saying the same thing would be talk is cheap. That’s why we pay attention to what these guys do. We know they’re lying but they can’t hide what they do.
It appears that some folks in possession of a bushel or two of false knowledge missed that class on Occam’s Razor. These folks try to make things more complicated to solve what they think is a problem. It’s pretty easy to use the idea that the simplest solution is usually the best solution. For example Occam’s Razor would indicate if there was an election, and the votes were counted, and one side had more votes than the other side, then the side with more votes won. Unless there was something fishy about the vote. If nothing can be identified as fishy then you have the simplest solution. He who has more votes wins. That just can not be hard to grasp.
Yet we have people trying to justify an ex-President who seemingly cannot grasp the simple calculation that shows he lost. Some of the same people who try to justify the ex-President’s election loss are now trying to justify the same ex-President having documents that no one should have. Documents that contain actual knowledge that is clearly dangerous to possess even without documentation. There is no simple solution to explain why he had them that ends well. Knowingly possessing such forbidden knowledge must be viewed with suspicion. The simplest solution as to why an ex-President who claims the election he lost was rigged against him is he must be considered as vengeful. Especially if he is known to be vengeful.
So, how would a vengeful ex-President exact his revenge? Would he try to garner public opinion or world opinion as bargaining leverage to still affect world affairs? Could there be dangerous information of interest to oil producing countries? Would they be willing to make a deal to receive that information? Would they be able to affect the US election through manipulating supply and demand? I mean, the world will pay anything to buy gas unless there’s an alternative.
So, Dark Brandon gets legislation passed to begin to convert to renewable energy. Electric Vehicles, for example. He proposed to make it worth a manufacturer’s while to start with a contract with the Federal government. You know that had to send ripples of unease through the oil producers all over the world. I kind of imagine it to be the same flavor of unease buggy makers felt when Ford rolled out the Model A. Dark Brandon just marked the beginning of the end of an era. Conservatives attempting to hold on to a fading era of greed fueled by energy have reason to feel the threat to their incomes posed by an all EV federal fleet of cars and trucks. Conservatively thinking individuals seem to tend toward cosplaying Charlton Heston foretelling the only method of removing his personal firearm from his possession when they’re confronted with the mere possibility of massive change.
Today we actually are in the midst of all manner of changes taking place. The weather is not predictable. The nuclear clock is nearer midnight than it has been for a while. There’s talk of civil unrest and there’s more than talk too. Kids are murdered in their classrooms. People are murdered grocery shopping. There is a global pandemic. Dr. Oz is changing careers from snake oil proponent to Big Don’s Lackey. Hershel is still running through tackles although he may soon have to punt. Things are so bad that a former tv news anchor has been reduced to vacuuming carpets to show Big Don what a good little woman she is. On top of it all, there are hundreds of Big Don wannabes running for everything from dog catcher to Governor from Florida to Alaska. Apparently, professional ass kissing is a thing.
What’s amazing is that the more questionable a candidate seems to be the more likely he is to be endorsed by Big Don. Many of Big’s Picks have been in a realm of alternative reality that even Snoop Dog can’t approach. To hear some of these Republican candidates talk, you’d think they were attending a 70’s party:
Girl sitting on the floor and staring at a wall, “Oooh! The walls are melting and running into the shag carpet.”
Boy sitting in a bean bag near her staring at a lava lamp, “Far out.”
I don’t know what Laura, or Marge or Matt or JD or Keri or the Doc are smoking but it brings on some strange visions. Maybe the simplest solution is they got a bad batch of snake oil from Rudy?
I get that we all kind of like to identify with the bad boys and girls but when it comes right down to it people will always opt to vote for what works best for them. Anarchy masquerading as Christian Theocracy does not represent a winning ticket. Neither does hate masquerading as righteous comparisons of race inequalities. I suspect that another era of apathy is also coming to a close. Perhaps we are witnessing the dawning of an era of spiritual practicality.
Big Don is often dubbed as ushering in some kind of political mojo by misbehaving in outlandish fashion. Big Don is all cheap talk and nothing to show for it. Dark Brandon on the other hand is all about getting things done. What this old man has done in two years is pretty remarkable. He got a transportation bill through. He got an environmental bill through. He got Veterans coverage for service related long term health problems. He got money to folks when there was not money to be had at the end of the covid lockdown. He got folks vaccinated. He got the US back on the world stage as a participant not as a combatant. He has ignored politics in order to help those in need in spite of the governor of Florida lobbying against the aid he so desperately needed. More than all else Dark Brandon has revived the ideas of decency and human kindness that the Office of President has been so sadly lacking these last few years. I’m enjoying slow steady stability and I look forward to one day even enjoying political sanity emanating from the White House and its current and past occupants. This steady diet of Big Don’s outlandish claims for attention is about to give me heartburn. It’s enough to make me want to vote for anyone who is not a Republican spouting false knowledge. Those boys are worse than ignorant.
