If you are a freelancer, whether you are new to freelancing or not. And you are having difficulties finding projects to kick start your freelancing career. I have an idea for you.
You may have heard of Facebook the most popular social media site. But what if I tell you that you are using it wrong. You will be surprised by my answer and ask that how are we using it wrong. So today I am gonna tell you that Facebook groups are hidden gold for freelancers like you.
Some of you may already know about getting freelance projects on Facebook. But you might think that there is so much rush on getting a project. But what if I tell you that only 10% of the freelancers will qualify the client’s requirements.
So let’s talk about that. When a client posts a job on Facebook, they provide their contact information like E-mail, Phone number, etc so that the freelancers can contact them and pitch their proposals. But you may have seen that 50% of freelancers comment on their posts that “I am interested” without pitching a proposal. And the other 30% will DM (direct message) them. And some will mail them their Gig’s links without pitching a proposal. So these 85 to 90 percent of freelancers are already out of the race for not following the guidelines. So there is only 10 to 15 percent of freelancers left for the job.
Now you are competing only with 10% of the freelancers. That’s why I call Facebook groups the hidden gold for new freelancers. But if you want to get the gold, you have to mine it first. This means if you want to get the project and stand out in all those freelancers, you have to follow the client’s guidelines and pitch a perfect proposal. I am talking about this because I have also got my first freelance project from Facebook.
But first of all, I will inform you about something. If you pitch for 15 or 20 jobs. On average, you will receive a response from only one. But that’s enough for you. Because in the beginning, you don’t have to look at the money or the time duration they are offering. Your only focus should be getting the project.
Because If you receive the project. It will boost your Gig’s ranking on your freelancing platform like Fiverr, Upwork, Freelancer, etc. There is a high chance that the client is also a freelancer outsourcing the work. And if you find such clients, they will give you more projects in the future.
How to search for projects on Facebook
All you have to do is, click on the search bar and type your job, but in double quotations to filter irrelevant posts. For example, If you want to find jobs related to web development, just type “need a web developer” in double quotations and you find many posts related to your job, and then all you have to do is to pitch them your proposal and wait to get accepted.
Avoid Scam
Finding freelance jobs on Facebook has a dark side that many people are roaming to scam freelancers. So if anyone tells you that he will give you a job, If you give him some money, don’t trust them. Because clients are not there to get money from you although they give you money to complete their projects. So my last words will be “Don’t fall for scams”.
