Everyone is A Writer
Young Women’s Perspective
Every perspective is matters — Azura Shine
I start to love writing since I was 6th grade. At the time, my mom gave me a diary for the first time. It was a pink book with the small padlock. It motivate me to write about the story of my days. Since then, I always buy diary book for my daily journal every year. Even, I still save all of my diary since I was elementary school neatly till now.
Honestly, every time I buy a beautiful new diary, sometimes I really love it and don’t want to scribble on it. But after the book was full of my everyday stories, I actually smiled to myself every time I read my own writing.
Writing a personal journal has become a habit for me now. I will write my feelings, things I am grateful for, and my story that day in my diary. This helps me to heal from several types of stress. When I start to feel down, usually I will re-read my diary, then I will become enthusiastic again.
After all these years I always wrote for myself and kept it private. When I was 19 years old, I thought about trying to publish my writings. I also thought about writing for the public and more people. I’m happy when I write. Especially when other people can learn something from my writing.
In college I started writing academic journals for publication. I also joined the scientific writing club on campus. In 2020, I created a medium account for the first time as one of the assignments for the scientific writing club. However, after writing 1 story I went on hiatus for a long time until I started actively writing again on Medium in July 2023. I just write 2 stories in month. I started to really into medium and make it as a part of my daily life since October 2023.
I’m not an expert in writing yet, but I will always learn and have perspective I want to share. After years of loving writing, I learn one significant reason why we have to write. Because for me everyone is a writer. Everyone has a story. Writing is important as speaking. We can articulate ideas by writing. Moreover, when we speak, we cannot edit or change all the words we have said. But by writing we can change the words we write before we publish our ideas.
So, in writing I feel like I have more control of what I shared. I can write for myself or for others. When we write for ourselves it helps us to think, learn and understand. Writing for ourselves is a private affair though it may be shared with others.
