Enjoying What You See Through Your Windows?

A prompt response to “Would you dare look through your windows?”

How much time do I spend living history, letting the current moment slip by as I stare out this window that takes me back into my past?

I see the past hurts, the past wrongs. I see myself wandering in the dark, with no purpose, with no direction, and uncertain about an uncertain future.

The past can be our enemy, filling our minds with negative thoughts, preventing us from moving forward, forcing us to look back, and anchoring us to the shore — not allowing us to venture into the beauty of open waters.

This window into the past is controlling my thoughts, depleting time, and not benefitting me at all. It is time to move on, turning away from this window (now).

I choose to gaze out another window where I have learned lessons, now filled with hope, where I see the beauty of the current moment, gratitude for the gift of dawn, a new beginning, a new day of possibilities.

Through this window, I see the warm smiles and the smell of food grilling, the singing of songbirds and dogs playing in the park, and it is where I see loved ones returning home one by one.

Through this window comes the warmth of the day and the comforting moon at the end of the day, after a meal, reminding me to slow down to rest and heal.

It is this window of the current moment that I gaze and stay, living each moment, day by day, hour by hour, and minute by minute, drawing the curtains to the window of the past (now).
