Through the Autumn Window
Window Gazing ~ A Poem
As I gaze through my window, On a mild autumn day, I can watch the leaves falling, In a gorgeous array.
On a page in my notebook I scribble some words, Describing the things That I watch and observe.
I can see many trees, Dressed in shades of gold, And the sun shining through Between branches, so bold.
Observing the birds, As they fly through the sky, And hear their joyful songs, As they swiftly pass by.
I watch one close neighbour, Pulling garden weeds, And another is raking, His tree’s fallen leaves.
My four cats are playing Chase on the grass, Stalking, and pouncing, And running quite fast
As I look at the clouds, Drifting by in the breeze, Raindrops start falling Softly down on the trees.
When you look through your window, On an autumn — fall day, You may see the world, In a much different way.
Maybe you have squirrels, Gathering nuts to store, Preparing for winter, And dreaded snowstorms.
Perhaps you have maples With brilliant red leaves, As a show of the magic That only Nature can weave.
But the scene through my window Is a sight to behold, No matter what season It never gets old.
It’s one of life’s pleasures, That’s enjoyed at no cost, I window gaze every day, So not a moment is lost.
