Elon Musk and Ukraine

On Saturday, 26 February 2022, Elon Musk said that SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet service had been enabled in Ukraine, after a request from a Kyiv [capital of Ukraine] official for the tech mogul to offer stations to Ukraine.

In the past, Ukraine welcomed Elon Musk’s offer to help overcome power shortages and be a test site for innovation.

On December 23, 2015, a cyberattack on Ukraine’s power grid occurred, resulting in power outages for approximately 230,000 Ukrainians for 1–6 hours.

The attack occurred during Russia’s ongoing military intervention in Ukraine (2014–present) and is blamed on Russia.

On 14 January 2022 Ukraine was hit by yet another massive cyberattack that targeted government websites.

The rivalry between the two countries heated up in 2014, when Russia annexed Crimea, which was previously part of Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin’s government opposes Ukraine from joining the North Atlantic Treaty Organization [NATO] because it sees it as a security threat to Russia.

Elon Musk and Russia

Elon Musk visited Russia in 2001 and 2002 to purchase rockets, yet he was unsuccessful in this pursuit.

That’s when he started SpaceX.

Elon Musk launched SpaceX in 2002 with the purpose of lowering space transportation costs in order to build settlements on Mars.

Conclusion

Going to war will be detrimental to Elon Musk’s businesses and Elon Musk could want to take revenge against Russia for not having supported him in the past.

More so it is important to note that this war could be an indication of the fight for artificial intelligence [AI] superiority.

May we all send out positive energy to those directly and indirectly affected by this conflict — which includes all of us.

As always, even as hard as it might be, same as with the pandemic, staying positive and keeping our energy positive is the best thing that we can do.

Also, know that not all you see and hear in the media can be trusted so stay open-minded and skeptical at the same time.
