Elon Musk: The Rise Of Starlink (2020)

This is the first time ever in my life that I felt frightened while writing a story on Medium. Then, I proofread it and I started sweating all of sudden. Find out for yourself and let me know how you feel! Anyway, recently, I wrote how Elon Musk’s Starlink could potentially take over the whole telecommunications industry, how it can eventually change the digital landscape, and how it can connect our blueprint to the universe. Today, I’m writing how Starlink, along with the right planning, execution, and zero technological compromises, can create not just a new technology, but a whole new way of living.

A Perfect Scenario

Imagine wandering the Sahara desert on a weekend trip and suddenly, you feel the urge to capture the moment. So, you pick up your iPhone and take a panoramic picture. Then, imagine sharing that same picture to your friends, to your family, right in that exact moment. Your family decides to FaceTime you and you talk to them for an entire hour while blindly walking around the Sahara desert, drenching in sweat. That’s what it’s like to be Starlink connected. There are no limits to what Starlink can do. Online, wherever you go.

Starlink isn’t just a widespread broadband internet communications system, Starlink is a whole new way of living. It’s a real-world reinvention.

The Pain Points

No cellular data issues, no “we’re in the middle of nowhere”, and no “low signal”. You can pretty much end up in the most barbaric place on the earth and still be receiving tweet updates from Trump on Twitter. Just you, your device, and the whole universe. A digital interplanetary being, so to speak. Though, Aliens might hack the satellites and gain information about us. They might take advantage of Starlink as a better way to connect to humans. However, we’re pretty sure Elon will create another company that prevents Aliens from cyberbullying us. Right, Elon?

The Timing Question

Most startups and businesses have to keep asking the timing questions like Why now? What’s special in this time? Why not tomorrow? Or Next Year? These questions alone can determine a business's potential success in the market and its ability to scale.

I believe Starlink has found a perfect timing for implementation amidst the epidemic because people are more distant than ever from other people and the real world. And they can’t stand a never-ending unreliable and unstable internet connection, especially the people who live in the rural areas. People would want and need 10X better alternatives. Will it be Starlink? Maybe, but I strongly believe.

A Brave New World

We’re on the verge of a new generation of a technological revolution. Most people don’t feel it yet, but it is happening. From AI, Robotics, and Cryptocurrency. Just imagine when Starlink works side by side with Neuralink, Musk’s another tech company specializing in human-brain interfaces. OpenAI is another thing, whose mission is create a friendly AI. I’m really starting to think that Musk is really the greatest innovator of our lifetime. Maybe, even for a millennium. Kids will be hanging Elon’s face and his Tesla keynote dance in their bedroom walls. I mean, why not?

However, Musk is no hero, as he claimed multiple times in his interviews, but he isn’t really a villain either. It might be a different case from a citizen’s perspective, but Musk is single-handedly moving the human race from one place to another. I wouldn't be surprised if Musk is the reason why we become a type-1 civilization in the future. In an interview in TedTalk Musk was asked why he does what he does.

His answer:

I just want to think about the future and not be sad.

Yes, a very simple statement, but very meaningful. However, how much does Musk know where exactly where we headed?

Are We Approaching Singularity?

Been doing a lot of thinking, studying, and observing and I came up with the realization of what it’s like to be inside one of those sci-fi movies about Artificial Intelligence. The scary part, we might be living on one already. It might be too late when people become more aware of it. The path to singularity between Humans and AI, just how those movies are being played out in front of our eyes with Starlink’s satellites tracking every movement and moment of the humans. Skynet, is that you?

Conclusion: To The Future And Beyond Starlink is a goldmine. The rest of the world will depend on it. Gaming is going to boom, AI will start to be smarter, and Cryptocurrency will be more secure than ever. It’s going to change the world. Decades from now, we will look back at Elon’s story and his starling achievements. And when he successfully creates Neuralink’s flagship, he will be creating a technology that will fundamentally change what it even signifies to be a human today.
