PHOTO-A-DAY CHALLENGE
Eating Our Way Through Thailand’s Cuisine and Other Highlights From Our Life Abroad
Week 80 of the photographic documentary of my daily life
Just as I was sitting down to get all the pictures for this week together, I mentioned to my husband I hadn’t written a single piece in a week. He said, “you’re writing for fun, not for money and you decided to take a break”.
I do enjoy his uplifting words while my mood was more depressing telling myself I didn’t achieve anything this week. But that isn’t true. I worked. I trained students in the sky. I took customers on their very first skydive.
I jump out of planes for a living.
I write for joy.
Earning money with my writing is only a positive side-effect for me.
So here we go again. My week started as usual on a Thursday. After work, we went to the gym for a good cardio workout and a short swim session. I absolutely love going swimming after working out. The cool water refreshes my body.
Well, and what are you gonna do after exercise? Eat, that is for sure.
We went to the Japanese-themed park and sat down in a restaurant we hadn’t been to before. We tried a couple of new dishes and this one was one of them being served in a set. Grilled salmon in Teriyaki sauce with vegetables, steamed rice, and miso soup on the side.

This is all I got for you today. While it was more difficult to spot this dog, you will always, at any time of the day, see dogs in Thailand. They are everywhere. Even on the runway and our landing area.
Or under your car.

I was pretty tired when we came out of the gym today but remembered I hadn’t taken a picture yet. It had rained and was all gloomy outside. This was when I walked past this butterfly artwork in the parking lot.

It’s Sunday and the market just a few minutes down from our place is big today. We decided to walk down for dinner. I stopped before we walked out again to capture this scene including the decorations. They change them every few weeks. I’m sure these ones have some traditional meanings. They looked like pieces of wooven fabric.

Since I can’t take my husband to Japan for Valentine’s Day, we go for dinner to J-Park, the Japanese-themed park in our area.
I’m no person celebrating Valentine’s Day or expecting gifts. Just as much as I hate the commercialism of Christmas in today’s era, I hate it about the 14th of February as well. But since it’s nearly impossible to miss the date, here’s our dinner choice: Sushi Luck — a Japanese restaurant with a sushi belt. My favorite.

For a dentist appointment, I had to go to the city and since I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to eat anything afterward, we decided to treat ourselves for lunch. Lebanese cuisine. I don’t think I ever had that before.
Of course, we had to order some hummus. And then we just ordered a mix of meats, vegetables, and dipping sauces. I can tell you one thing — it was delicious!

Another fun day out of my life. Despite the rain clouds hanging in the sky, we headed south to go to the closest wake park. We’ve been here once before but that was over two years ago.
We had heaps of fun but got tired quite quickly. Water sports make you ten times more tired than anything else.

This has been my week in photographs. 7 days. 7 photographs. Anyone can join. Once. Or weekly. It doesn’t matter. We welcome everyone! Dennett was the one starting this photography challenge in summer 2020 and many have participated ever since.
