Easy & fun ways to spice up your team bonding

This blog is an outcome of the popular request of the lovely audience from my talk this year at the Agile North East and Women in Tech York on Supporting New Teams Remotely as a Servant Leader.

Having remotely onboarded with a new employer, in a new domain, and in a new team this year, I had shared some tips and lessons in my talk. However, due to limited time, I couldn't cover the tools in detail. Collating them for your reference into this blog that would be regularly updated as and when I explore more new tools. It is quite a challenge for anyone to create an affiliation over a remote setup compared to being physically together in the office. But thanks to the global pandemic for all the lessons that shifted our mindset to nothing is impossible. So many new businesses and people have discovered creative and fun ways of team/social bonding.

The energy of unforced bonds is real. Let’s focus on keeping it that way. You don't have to be best friends to create great bonds at work. You just need to believe and trust your peers with an open mind. Remember, trust and support is two-way street, you can only lead a horse to the water, but you can’t make them drink. Hope you won't make them thirsty too 😉

Whilst you may be busy focusing on socializing, be aware of the ones who breathe the air of solitude, respect the social boundaries of yourself and your people. For an introvert, it is an exhaustive effort to socialize. Being inclusive to introverts is giving them a safe space to decline your offer or to have an option to be left alone (but not lonely). (Is that the introvert in me speaking 🤔)

As promised, here are a few tools that I have explored in the last year of remote working that can help you create stronger ionic and covalent bonds. (my chemistry teachers would be so proud that I’ve finally used the bonds they taught in school — adding fake laugh here)
