Summary of the podcast

The discussion started with the recent Kitex issue, how the Owner of the business was heckled by the system and the pain he had to go through. Then the discussion moved to a generic scenario, startups, push by the governments, ease of having a business, the various indices and politics.

The talk session ended with a mutual consensus and various solutions that the government must take into account. We believe in constructive criticism and not blindly targeting anyone specifically.

Generally, topics like these aren’t much available in the mainstream media, because these are believed hard to crack and don’t address the basics. But, through our podcasts, we disprove this misconception that these cannot be understood by common people. We explain in simple terms regarding various subtopics under this vast topic in the form of conversational and discussion style. Everything is easy to follow in the episode.

For the longest period of time, Kerala was seen as a place for anti-business policies and protests. People have always stood against companies and corporations. This notion was prevalent for a long time. Even most political classes of the time- whether it be the groups like UDF and LDF have taken similar stances for both political and social reasons.

Also, there were several lobby groups and citizenry groups that were interested in not allowing businesses to flourish here. Even though most of the arguments were to be seen, which was valid. But today those ideas have proven to be counterproductive in the long run.

The current episode came live in the context of the KITEX group which is based in Kerala looking to migrate to Telangana after the issues with the Kerala government on multiple matters. This had even exploded on a verbal level between the CEO and the ministers. The issues between KITEX and the politicians started with the establishment of its own party the Twenty Twenty- India’s first corporate party.

This debate also leads to a philosophical question of whether government should interfere or not here as well as whether companies can float political parties. It is also true that Kerala has improved its rank recently in terms of Ease of Doing Business.

All is not well, Kerala has a long way to go. Starting from infrastructural improvement and removing red-tapism, a lot of systemic issues have to be fixed and the episode talks about various issues related to the same.

This episode closely looks into the generic scenario, specific issues, case studies, examples and scenarios. All the speakers kept a high standard of points and high-quality discussion. Everyone had done some quality research and it was evident with the issues we had covered. This episode was recorded in the clubhouse before being uploaded on the podcast.
