Don’t Be Afraid To Laugh
It’s the best medicine
“Three guys stranded on a desert island find a magic lantern containing a genie, who grants them each one wish. The first guy wishes he was off the island and back home. The second guy wishes the same. The third guy says: ‘I’m lonely. I wish my friends were back here.”-Oliver Wheaton
“We don’t laugh because we’re happy — we’re happy because we laugh.”- William James
I always end my day watching or reading something funny. It has been reported that laughter boosts the immune system and decreases stress. It’s the best remedy for the anxiety the pandemic has caused.
I have noticed when I experience any type of physical pain that laughing can temporarily make me forget about the pain. Even telling funny stories about a loved one you’ve lost can help assuage emotional pain.
During this time, it is important to inject some humor into your day.
My preferred social media site is Twitter. Tweeting during my favorite shows with other viewers is a real hoot. It is important to discover what makes you laugh especially while cooped up at home.
We are saturated with doom and gloom content daily. I make it a point to seek out feel-good stories. I try to avoid panic-inducing content.
I go outside. I laugh and I play. I find things that make me smile.
Laughter heals. Engage in laughter, it is good for you.
“Laughter is a form of internal jogging. It moves your internal organs around. It enhances respiration. It is an igniter of great expectations.”- Norman Cousins
