Don’t Assume
Poetry of wisdom
Don’t assume you ever know, The lives where you have never been, The soul you’ve not inhabited, Or painful secrets held within.
Don’t assume you understand, What someone else is fighting for, You read to educate yourself, But their experience isn’t yours.
Don’t assume that you may help, When you see someone falling down, They may or may not need your God, Or they’ll have courage so rarely found.
Don’t assume you have the answers, Be humble no matter what you find, Be glad when it seems you’re helping out, As truth is subjective in this life.
Don’t assume people want the same things, Or they have someone to help them along, The best you’ll be is full of care, So give your heart with the power of love.
