How some relationships end

The signs were there over the years, pointing to the fact that things were falling apart. You just ignored them thinking if I don’t think about it then it isn’t really happening.

The yelling was to the max, you talking over him and him over you. No one actually hearing what the other one said, it was just noise in the air.

You would replay it over and over in your head just growing madder and madder each time. Counseling was suggested but knocked down instantly. He said he was going to go anyways.

He did go to counseling where he talked, and talked, and talked.

Every time he would go you would yell, “It’s not going to help, and you’re wasting money.”

Still he went and he started to change. He started taking better care of himself and learned not to take the bait when you wanted to fight. He began the process of separating from you. First and foremost, he began to do what was best for him.

So the day he served you divorce papers, you had not realized he was ready to walk away from you and from everything you two had built. He was willing to be done, just done. You thought you would be able to keep this from happening.

You just didn’t realize that he had left years ago.
