Donald Trump Is Struggling With Legal Funds

Currently, former President Donald Trump, who is now handling four indictments, is struggling with funding his legal battles. Trump refuses to fund the legal battles of the 18 other co-defendants in the Georgia indictment but has funded legal defense for aides, advisors, and employees since January 6th. We know that Trump has covered two employees, Walt Nauta and Carlos de Oliver.
Trump has to now found other ways of funding his campaign, and even his sons are helping him fund it. Eric and Don Jr., who are sons of Donald Trump, have helped to fund Trump’s super PAC. Donald Trump’s PAC, which is called Save America, has spent 40 million dollars on Trump from the course of 2021 to now. Most notably at the start of this year. The PAC has spent 21 million dollars on Trump since the start of this year.
Donald Trump has now asked for a refund of 60 million dollars from a PAC that is supporting him. The 60 million dollars were given to the PAC in order to support Trump during the primaries. Trump is facing a plethora of legal battles: 40 charges for the classified documents in Florida, 34 charges for the hush money case in New York, and Trump is still battling the case against writer Jean Carroll. Trump apparently owes Jean Carroll $5 million for defamation and sexual abuse.
Other co-defendants in the Georgia case are struggling to get enough funding for their legal defense, and some have to resort to asking for donations. Jenna Ellis, who was a lawyer for Donald Trump, has raised 180,000 dollars for her legal defense on GivesSendGo. John Eastman, who made up the theory that Mike Penske can overturn the election, has raised 500,000 dollars since late 2021. Cathy Latham, a fake elector during the Georgia trial, raised 15,000 dollars. Jeffrey Clark, who is also a fake elector, had raised $56,000 for his legal defense.
In the Georgia case, nine out of the 19 defendants have pleaded not guilty. Some have asked for a speedy, but only one has gotten it. Kenneth Chesebro, who was a lawyer for Trump on January 6th, has asked for a speedy trial. He received a trial set for October and is the only one who received a speedy trial. John Eastman also requested a speedy trial but did not receive one. The defendants may have wanted a speedy trial to avoid legal fees. These legal battles are incredibly expensive and time-consuming.
Donald Trump, on the other hand, has not wanted a speedy trial, as he needs time in order to concentrate on the election and legal strategy. Georgia Prosecutor Fani Willis has asked for a trial date of October 23rd, and Donald Trump tried to appeal this decision. Trump wants his legal battles to be put off until after the 2024 election and possibly until 2026. This would mean that his team would have more time to come up with a strategy. Trump currently has four indictments, and most of them are placed close to each other. His first trial will start the day before Super Tuesday.
