Does Your To-Do List Feel Like a Chore to You?

It did to me until I found this method….

Sometimes, everything just feels like a never-ending to-do list, right? I struggle with the same mindset, but guess what? I’ve found a game-changing trick to flip that mindset!

You see, I am my biggest obstacle.

Whether it’s the small task of putting things in their rightful place or doing dishes, everything feels like a mountain-climbing journey to me.

I admit that this mindset is holding me back in many areas. I acknowledge it, and I am fully aware of the consequences. That’s precisely why I’ve been working on overcoming my weaknesses for a while now.

I know I still have a long way to go on this journey, but at least I’ve started with baby steps.

I think I’ll eventually reach somewhere, even if it means winding up in a ditch with my humor dead. But hey, on the bright side, the wheels of the bus go round and round throughout life.

I’m not feeling burnt out; I just feel overwhelmed and outright lazy about improving myself.

Everything on my to-do list feels like a daunting task, even a simple one like taking a bath. But rest assured, I take a bath nevertheless.

If this sounds unhygienically relatable to you, here’s what I’m doing to overcome this mindset.

Taking it as it is — whenever I have to clean my room or mop the house and my mind says, “I don’t want to do this,” I picture myself climbing a random mountain.

It’s as if the winds are howling, and I know I’m about to reach the peak, but then I decide not to and miss the golden opportunity of enjoying the view.

This reminds me of how much I’m missing out on by giving up at the wrong time, and suddenly I’m energized by the mere thought of the reward at the end.

I tackle one room at a time, making it seem like no big deal. Eventually, the entire house is utterly immaculate and sparkling.

Even if it’s not as rewarding, it’s a burden lifted internally.

So, the simplest way to get things done, from my perspective as of now, is to remind myself of how small the task is.

The smaller it is, the easier it is to deal with.

So, the next time you’re drowning in a sea of chores, remember:

It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.”Muhammad Ali
