Does Writing Offer You Escapism?

Albeit I’m in my very early days of writing, I’ve got to say I’m completely blown away by how much I’m enjoying it.

If I’m being honest, I’m absolutely addicted, and as a good writer would say regarding a good story title, it’s got me “hooked”.

What A Feeling

The positive feeling I get from the moment I open Medium to write, to the point of pressing publish, is a feeling I never thought I’d experience.

As someone who is here to discuss my journey dealing with mental health issues too, writing has honestly become my therapy.

Writing Is Pure Escapism

The word that springs to mind when I write is, escapism.

As a person whose internal dialogue is never ending, writing has become an unbelievable way to escape the carnage.

Escapism to me is a feeling of distraction from the stresses of day to day life.

When I put it that way, I can’t think of any better word to use.

Writing Because You Want To, Not For The Sake Of It.

If I ever find myself writing for the sake of it, or writing something that doesn’t excite me, I’d have the lost the reason I’m writing this now.

I’m doing this because I absolutely want to and I love it!

To to be an authentic and genuine writer, you have to write with enthusiasm as surely that will transmit to the reader.

Perhaps people find themselves writing stuff they don’t really enjoy because it’s a topic that gives them views/reads?

Personally, I can’t see a day when I do this because that’s the day I’m no longer writing with enjoyment!

Does writing act as escapism for you?

Is there another word you would use?
