Do You Know the Feeling of Being Alive?

This is my raw happiness feeling

After a great evening spent out in good company, drinking some beers while having significant discussions, I am going back home on foot. It’s night-time. Paris is still awakened, but differently than at day. Quieter. Emptier. More tangible.

Coat closed up to my chin, earphones in my ears, I’m walking. I feel every step, the hard asphalt beneath my feet. Tonight, the random sequence of my playlist is exceptional. No false notes. Each track follows perfectly and responds to the joy that fills my mind. My steps follow the rhythm, my whole body responds discreetly while my lips mime the words.

I am feeling alive.

The light of the candelabra accompanies my footsteps, and I take with me the joy of being on Earth. Of being able to enjoy its joys. I can feel my body being alive. My heart beating in my chest. My muscles tensing up whenever I ask them to.

I am soaking in my happiness.

No particular good news. No reason to burst with joy inside. It’s the simple fact of being alive that fills me up like this.

I am deeply in the moment. For all that, my joy comes as much from reminiscences of happy moments, as from the present moment, as from the anticipation of future projects that are close to my heart. I’m filled with a kind of global awareness of my life.

I feel like I am living life. Like, truly. Not just existing. Living.

It’s something everyone should feel from times to times. But we constantly find ourselves caught up in daily worries and concerns that prevent us from feeling that raw joy that comes from the simple fact of being alive.

You. Are. Alive.

Several times a day, whenever you think about it, say the following sentence to yourself: I am alive.

Feel deeply the impact of these words on your mind. On your body. On your conscience.

I am alive.

Feel these words filling you with feelings. With life.

This is the true essence of happiness.

Let that feeling penetrate your mind. Soak up every word. Every sound. But most of all, their meaning.

What could be stronger than being alive? It’s all we have. It’s the very essence of our being. It is the foundation of everything. What we do with our lives is another matter. For once, let’s put that aside. And get back to the basics.

Feel yourself breathing. Feel your heart beating. Feel your mind filling with emotions, excitement, new things. Feel your body moving.

Feel yourself feeling.

We are alive.
