Do You Have What It Takes To Be a Winner?
Let’s see.
Challenges are fun to organize but quite a nightmare to close, especially when one has added too many ways of gaining extra points. (Find the rules here.)
But here we are. We know the winners, YAY!
Before we start, you still have a chance to make up your opinion by reading all the submissions to the SCRABBLE YOUR MEDIUM CHALLENGE here:
Points calculationS
I calculated points traditionally, using recycled paper from the office printers and pre-owned (but in an excellent state since they were still in their original boxes when I took them) pens and pencils.
Below, you’ll find a picture of May More’s points calculation.
If you would like to receive your calculation sheet, you can send me money and your address here, and a signed original will be delivered within a timeframe unknown to all but the postal services.

One last thing before we start. Since I was late with the results, I decided to double everybody’s points to compensate. The impact on the final ranking was marginal.
Prize money
- Ann James — Winner: nothing. You already won. What could be better than this feeling? Fun fact — Ann James wrote six stories, which partially explains her first place with 31,145 points.
- Annie Trevaskis— Second place: I will add a link to one of your articles (your choice, can be different articles) at the end of 2 of my articles. Fun fact — the challenge exists thanks to Annie’s joke response.
- May More 💜 Tales — Third place: I will send you a postcard (snail mail or electronic — your choice). — Fun fact — May More has the highest score on a single article with 19,605 points.
- Arpad Nagy — Fourth place: $11 paid to the charity of your choice.
- Patrick Eades — Fifth place: I will add a link to one of your articles (your choice, can be different articles) at the end of 5 of my articles.
- Holly, The Sturg, Michael Burg, Grimsby, Zatanna — Sixth to Tenth place: I will add a link to one of your articles (your choice) at the end of 1 of my articles.
- Eleventh place and further: to be determined.
The Details
If you’re the winner, sorry you didn’t win anything. (But congratulations! YAY!)
If you won a link to one of your articles, please leave it in the comments. Same for the charity, and leave me a private note with your address for the postcard.
If you’re eleventh or more but not the last one (Victor, Isaac, Sonja, Cristina, Linda, Cat Strav, Robert, The Night Bunny, Malky), now is the time to determine your prize. You have the choice between:
- A free picture of my favorite 2020 vintage toilet paper roll. (in electronic form)
- 50 claps and a read on the article of your choice. (leave me a link in the comments)
If you’re the first one from the bottom (and that would be you Mark Suroviec, M.Ed.), you have the choice between:
- A signed picture of my cat. (in electronic form)
- An article singing your praise. (please be aware the form might vary)
Final words
Traditionally, I would like to express my gratitude to all the participants. Your entries were all absolutely fantastic (except for Loudt Darrow who didn’t participate), and it was a heartbreak to choose the winning ones.
And now, give a big round of applause to all the participants (for security reasons, you can applaud up to 50 times only).
Another big round of applause for Grimsby Hackney, who surely enjoyed the challenge as much as a congestion on the A219 S/B from A304 Fulham Road to A297 Morden Hall Road.
And a final big round of applause for people who didn’t participate but are tagged nonetheless (you’re welcome).
- Tejaswini Katreddy was very supportive and commented on almost all of the stories. She also gave away many points, in particular to Ann James. Thank you!!
- Srini loves to be tagged.
- But not as much as BichoDoMato.
- And Mike Knittel knows why I tagged him.
With love to all.
