Never Mind the Illusion

What is your time worth to you? An hourly wage? A salary?

Can you spare at least 30 seconds? ;)

Time is an Illusion

Do you believe our futures are predestined, or that every decision we make has its own butterfly effect? Maybe both are true…

Does the future already exist? Are we arriving at it or creating it? Can we ever truly reach the future?

Alternate realities, time travel, and astral projection are accessible within the mind. Dreams are not restricted by time, nor is the subconscious. Yet our reality is completely bound to this measurement of existence.

Why do we allow schedules, routines, and timelines to dominate our lives the way they do?

One’s perception of the speed and quality of time depends on what chemicals are being released in the brain.

We can only exist in the present, so why are we always focused on the past and/or future?

We have no knowledge or memory of existing outside this physical reality, but that doesn’t mean this reality is the only one.

What if you planned your entire life with the wisdom of an outside perspective and agreed to live with no knowledge of what was to come?

The Facts:

• Time is constant. One’s perception of time is constantly changing.
• Time, by definition, is “the indefinite continued progress of existence and events in the past, present, and future regarded as a whole.” It is a measurement of life’s evolution.
• Time moves in one direction — forward. It cannot be reversed; what has been done cannot be undone.

A Theory:

I thought this into existence.

I thought all of my existence into existence before I existed in this physical reality.

Time is an entity separate from me, but I have agreed to exist within its boundaries.

I know who I am and who I am going to be. I trust that my future self is guiding me to her. She’s quite elusive.

I have proven to myself that I can accomplish what I set my mind to.

Where I am now was but a dream to my younger self. I will continue to discover my own potential as long as I remain open to the unknown rather than afraid of it.

If you agree with Alan Watts and his philosophies, you know that our very existence is essentially paradoxical.

We have no present; our minds tend to focus on past and future events. Yet the present is all we can experience.

Imagine your life as a jigsaw puzzle with thousands of pieces representing different phases and moments in life. If you were only looking at one piece, would you be able to recognize the big picture?

Focusing on the past and future is an attempt to gain a better perspective on the present — Just like looking at the photo of a disassembled jigsaw puzzle can help the puzzler understand the individual pieces.

When you become conscious of the fact that you create your own future, it starts to feel like a forgotten memory.

I don’t claim to be a fortune teller, nor can I physically exist in a different time period than I am in now.

However, I am capable of transporting my spirit into an infinite void where everything and nothing matter equally. There is no time here, only space.

This internal reality, once discovered, demands to be prioritized. It leads to immense self discovery.

How much time are you spending questioning reality?

Whenever I’m running late or rushing myself, time seems to pass far too quickly. In contrast, when I am somewhere I don’t want to be, time seems to slow down to a stop. Like the traffic downtown I had to sit in to get here… (@ My former 9–5)

Marijuana and psychedelics absolutely alter one’s perception of time in a way that’s very difficult to articulate. If you know, you know…

When I create things, like a Medium piece I’m particularly proud of, it feels like something that was always present in my mind, preparing itself to be released into the world.

The timing is everything.

The art that emerges from the subconscious is the manifestation of a specific moment in time in which we were destined to create that thing.

Arriving at that moment is magical.

What is your time worth to you? How can we assign value to something so unquantifiable?

Reality will most likely remain incomprehensible, but we can at least question it.

Are you controlled by physical desires, or aligned with a higher purpose?

We are part of a sacred dynamic harmony that transcends time and space; staying in touch with this harmony is crucial for spiritual enlightenment.

Time is relevant, but only in this reality.

Let’s keep our minds open to the Great Beyond…
