Do You Feel That Life Is A Race?

Do you feel like you’re falling behind?

A few days ago, a young boy was listening to a conversation I was having with some thirty-something dads. They were asking about some of the things that have come to pass since I was twenty-one.

In conversation, I shared that when I was in my thirties, I said to someone, “All of the great stuff has already been invented.” Then I said, as I was saying, that my mind was telling me to go and solve a problem, provide a solution.

Not long after saying that, my partner and I created a positive displacement pump that changed how shallow oil fields could be pumped. Then, I was asked to lead a company in the oil business that created new technology to understand geothermal and oil well reserves better. Fourteen months later, a Doctor friend of mine had a problem with revenue. Two months later, we created the first Medical PPO in Central California. It was then that the fifteen-year-old boy said, “Were you in a race?”

The boy said, “Was there a race to create or find new things?” I said, “You know, it didn’t feel like it. “

In my forties and fifties, we continued to invent new technology that could and did change the world. With the Internet, VOIP, and touchscreen, mobile computers, and insurance companies become more profitable using a whole new way of understanding risk.

In my sixties, we promoted renewable insulation and power to remote parts of the world to access the Internet and computers. Then there’s remote medicine via satellites between countries.

There is opportunity everywhere you look in America. Within the rest of the world, there is still so much to be introduced and taken advantage of.

How did all of these changes happen? Solutions

We can choose to follow those that came before us or be on the lookout for a solution.

Every day we are finding new and better ways of doing everything. Every day, technology was only for . . . we now find additional uses.

Be positive, be creative, and be looking for solutions.
