Do These 6 Things After 7 PM If You Want to Change Your Life
I will be direct, no Introduction today.

1. Put Down Your Damn Phone
I know I know — asking you to voluntarily disconnect from that addictive little screen seems like a personal affront. But hear me out. The first step to changing your life is being truly present in it. And that’s pretty hard to do when you’re constantly bombarded with notifications, scrolling through social media feeds, or binge-watching Netflix shows.
Think about it this way: when was the last time you went an entire evening without picking up your phone? If you can’t even remember, that’s a problem. Your nights are precious — they’re the only prolonged period of time you get completely to yourself (unless you’re a parent, in which case…my condolences).
So after 7pm, put that phone down and be present. Engage fully in an activity you enjoy, whether it’s reading, working on a hobby, or just…thinking. It’s amazing how much mental clarity you can achieve when you’re not constantly context-switching between digital inputs.
“The life of inner peace, being harmonious and without stress, is the easiest type of existence.” — Norman Vincent Peale
2. Get Moving (Yes, Still)

You’ve had a long day at work/school/running errands. The couch is calling your name, promising sweet sweet rest for your weary bones. But resist the siren’s song! Getting your body moving, even for just 30 minutes after 7pm, pays massive dividends.
Exercise releases endorphins, which improve mood and energy levels. It helps you sleep better at night. And if you make it a consistent habit, it can lead to increased strength, flexibility, and overall fitness over time.
You don’t have to crush an intense HIIT workout or run a 5K every night. Something as simple as a relaxing yoga flow or a 30-minute walk around your neighborhood works wonders. The key is making physical activity a non-negotiable part of your post-7pm routine.
Think about it as scheduled self-care rather than dreaded exercise. Your future self will thank you for prioritizing their well-being.
3. Feed Your Brain (Not Just Your Body)
We all know how important it is to eat a healthy dinner. But intellectual nutrition matters just as much, if not more. Use the post-7pm hours as sacred “brain food” time.
- Read a book or listen to an audiobook/podcast on a topic that stretches your perspectives. Fiction works too if it’s particularly thought-provoking.
- Take an online course in a subject that genuinely fascinates you, unrelated to work/career obligations.
- Watch a documentary that explores ideas and cultures vastly different from your own lived experience.
- Write in a journal to process your thoughts, feelings, and experiences from the day.
The human brain craves lifelong learning and mental stimulation. Over time, an intellectually ravenous lifestyle breeds innovation, creativity, and growth.
4. Pursue a Passion Project
When’s the last time you devoted meaningful energy towards something you’re genuinely, wholeheartedly passionate about? Not work obligations. Not family duties. Something just for YOU?
Nurturing your passion projects is essential for living a fulfilling, purposeful life. It keeps you inspired, motivated, and in touch with your authentic self amidst all the noise and responsibilities.
So after 7pm, carve out some time — even just 30–60 minutes — to put yourself in that artistic hobby, DIY project, or creative pursuit that sets your soul on fire. Paint, write, knit, code, design…whatever it is that makes you feel vibrantly alive.
You’ll be amazed at how much progress you can make when you consistently devote high-quality time and energy to your passions. And that sense of creative fulfillment and pride will inevitably radiate into other areas of your life. Win-win!
5. Practice Intentional Introspection
In our frenetic, nonstop world, true stillness and self-reflection are rare commodities. Most of us run on the perpetual treadmill of work, chores, and near-constant digital stimulation from sunrise to sundown. When do you actually pause to process your inner life?
After 7pm, take 10–15 minutes to sit in silence, slowing your breath and turning your gaze inward. This meditation practice doesn’t have to follow any prescribed ritualistic format. Just be still, observe your thoughts/feelings/experiences of the day with compassionate non-judgment, and listen to your intuition.
You may uncover profound insights into how you can show up better for yourself or shed self-limiting patterns and beliefs. Intentional introspection breeds elevated self-awareness — the key to meaningful personal growth.
6. Actually Talk With Loved Ones
Think about how much quality, undivided, face-to-face time you spend with your partner, close friends, or family after 7pm. If you’re cringing at realizing the answer is “very little,” this one’s for you.
Deep human connection is what creates a life richly lived. And those bonds can’t be nurtured through a quick text message exchange or commenting intermittently on each other’s social media posts (no offense to the modern art of going “😂” on your buddy’s dank meme).
So after 7pm, have an actual, technology-free conversation with someone who matters to you. Ask them about their dreams, fears, highs and lows. Reminisce over old memories together. Be emotionally Present with empathy and care.
“The better I get to know men, the more I find myself loving dogs.” — Charles de Gaulle
Okay, maybe that quote’s a bit misanthropic. But you get the point! Real talk and authentic relating
Those are the 6 things I’d encourage you to focus on every night after 7pm. Will following these faithfully transform you into a supreme observer of the human condition? Maybe not. But it’ll put you on the path towards living a richer, fuller life with more consciousness and intentionality. And that’s a journey worth taking.
