Do I Need To Make A Sex Video With My Partner?

It seems like a lot of other people are filming themselves having sex.

I’ve never made a sex video. I’ve never really thought much about making one. The closest I’ve come to a sex video is some dirty, sexy polaroids that were taken during my first marriage.

I’m wondering if I’ve missed out on something because it seems like a lot of other people are filming themselves having sex on a regular basis.

I think my own husband would love to film us having sex. He’s made many, MANY comments about it.

But I’m still on the fence.

I’m not a celebrity or a politician. It’s unlikely I’d have to worry about anyone seeing a recorded video of my husband and I having sex — except perhaps our kids if they could potentially get into our cell phones.

And cell phones would be how we would do it. It’s not like we’d use video camera equipment or anything.

But what would we use the sex video for? Would we watch it when we have sex? Would we use it to get turned on before sex? This makes me curious as to what other couples use their own sex videos for.

Dr. Becky Spelman, a relationship expert at We-Vibe, agrees that there may be a level of narcissism in filming or watching yourself have sex or masturbating. However, she goes on to explain that this may run deeper than just being ego-centric; some people find sexual pleasure in themselves, rather than their partner.

A sex video might be a sexy novelty item to have in our marriage repertoire down the road to be able to look back on — when we’re really old and gray.
