Violent punishment produces problematic side effects. Children learn from what they see, if children are constantly in an environment of violence, then for them this type of behavior would be normal, which would lead to violence in other environments.

Violence is also related to how we trust others. When a child is constantly being threatened by his actions, he tends to create an environment of mistrust with the person. So, he tends to lies to protect himself because of fear. Trust is created when we understand that the other person is not going to judge us by our actions and that we can count on that person for anything.

Not everyone who receives blows in their childhood will create this type of behavior, but it is easier for them to do so than one who is created in an environment of love and communication. For example, smoking does not necessarily give you lung cancer, but you are more likely to get it than someone who does not smoke.

What can I do then?

If a child is not old enough to understand why they are receiving hits, then why are you hitting him? And if a child is old enough to understand why he did something wrong, then there is no need to hit him. Communication is the first key to make everything work well.

Children need quality time and feel loved. One of the best parenting ways parents can do is spend time with their children. Time to understand, know them, and educate them. When parents spend time daily listening to their children, they will be able to have more confidence with them, and even you will be the first to know when something happens to them.

Be an example to follow. children imitate what they see, and you are the hero they want to follow. So try to be the best version of yourself so that your children can follow a good path. I do not think it is necessary to resort to beatings if a person can understand perfectly what he did wrong. There are different types of ways to teach a child how to behave, I understand that hitting would be an extreme situation.
