DECORATING IDEAS

Ditch the Curtains and Blinds for A Fresh Green Window

The time had come to retire tired curtains and messed up blinds

My new green curtain just started growing. Photo by Wendy Snyder.

Once we tore down the curtains, rods, and nails, golden sunlight filtered in and the space changed. I couldn’t bear to cover it up again, so I left it uncovered while I figured out what to do.

One day, I spied this rod with plants hanging at different levels that you can set by tying the ropes. I loved it. I bought it, my husband installed it, and we transferred plants into the new pots.

They still need to grow to fill it out a little more, but I still love the light they let in.

We installed a propagation station to cover another window. We didn’t have to worry about lookee-loo traffic.

But wait, there’s more.

Behold — the propagation station — from stick to roots and leaves in 2–3 weeks

I received great satisfaction turning a stick that my husband thought trash worthy, into a rooted little guy, ready to transplant into a pot.

Hope, faith, and a little sun perform a miracle

Fine, I didn’t KNOW for sure that the “stick” would grow roots and leaves and turn itself into a lovely plant, but I had HOPE!

I liked this propagation station because it has long 6-inch test tubes, and lights. It looks pretty good at night and at 4AM.
