MEDIUM | STATS REPORT FOR MARCH

Did I join the $100 Club within two months on Medium?

Want to see my progress? The results have surprised me too

It’s hard to believe I’ve survived two months on Medium.

You’ll remember the purge if you were here at the beginning of March — we lost a lot of amazing creators overnight.

We all felt down about it for weeks (and we’re still wondering who’s next?).

I lost momentum and the will to create content for a while but put my head down and pushed on (views and reads died for weeks).

On average, I’ve written 1.7 stories daily — this is my 104th story in 60 days.

Without further ado, let’s take a look at the stats

But first, let’s take a look at my reads for Feb & March…

I’m showing you these story stats as proof that you don’t need thousands of reads or comments on each story to reach the $100 Club.

Here’s a look at my earnings for the past two months.

Own image — earnings for Feb & March

As you can see, I finished February with $86.63.

And I finished March with $142.23.

Not bad for 1551 reads. And it proves Google’s inconclusive theory that it’s possible to make a maximum of $98 per 1K reads (don’t you just love Medium’s transparency about earnings?).

But wait! There’s more.

Love coffee?

A couple of days ago, I wrote a story about the Million Dollar Weekend.

The book encourages you to ask for a dollar (it’s to get you used to asking for help as you work toward your dreams).

Therefore, I joined Buy Me a Coffee on a whim to give it a go (I never expected in a million years for it to work).

Yet, the generosity of the Medium Community is overwhelming.

I will protect the identity of my beautifully generous benefactor, but one person gifted me 10 cups of coffee (thank you again).

Therefore, I have finished March by earning a whopping amount on Medium in two months.

$86.63 + $142.23 + $50 = $278,86

Law of attraction in action or total coincidence?

Even more interesting is the statement I made at the beginning of March.

Author’s screenshot from a story published on 1 March 2024

I’m only $18.14 short of this amount.

I should point out that when I wrote my goals last month, I meant I wanted to make $297 in March; however, it’s not what I specified.

If there’s any truth to the Law of Attraction, that’s possibly why I’ve almost earned this amount since joining the platform on 3 Feb.

It’s also why I was much clearer about setting goals for April (see below).

Final thoughts

Earning $1.00 or $100 on Medium is a massive achievement.

It’s hard work and certainly not a passive income stream.

I value every cent because every story yields a small amount — and all those tiny amounts add up (so don’t feel discouraged).

I wish I could give you a secret formula to ensure every story makes money — some just don’t take flight.

However, the only pattern I can detect is that Medium rewards writers who write about the platform.

It also rewards the wonderful friendships you make — the more you engage, the richer your friendships become — and the more you see a return.

You just have to put in the reps like you’re at the writer’s gym to make money online.

There’s no right or wrong way to create content — do what feels good — but have you made any goals for April?
