🌟GOALS | GROWTH ON MEDIUM🌟

Big Fat Hairy Goals for April

Join me for chapter three on Medium — our collective road toward financial freedom

One of my own creations made in Midjourney (author’s image)

Highlight reel for the first two months on Medium

It’s been a whirlwind since joining Medium on 3 Feb 2024.

It was my goal to publish one post daily.

Somehow, I managed to publish 101 stories.

Attracted 727 followers (thank you so much!).

Grown in confidence from all your lovely comments and support.

Made a modest $86.63 in February and, as of this morning, $142.23 for the month of March.

That’s $228.46 in less than two months.

Made friends and connections with some incredible writers from all across the globe.

Thank you, world!

You’ve helped me join Medium’s $100 Club (whoop whoop!).

While I realise it’s a long road ahead of getting my invitation to the Medium Mansion.

I’m over the moon and truly grateful to everyone who supported the first two chapters of my journey.

It’s been a blast with many highs and lows.

Yet, despite the roadblocks and obstacles Medium puts in our way

I look forward to seeing what happens in April.

I’ve not decided whether to sustain writing twice a day yet.

But I can guarantee even more quality content is coming your way.

This time last month, I promised a loose content strategy (hence the reason things were a little higgledy-piggledy).

Quite honestly, some of my best content is the unplanned stuff.

But Medium doesn’t seem to reward spontaneity or writing about topics other than our slightly narcissistic benefactor.

Yawn! On the plus side, I’m a former teacher and mentor.

Therefore, I’m putting on my nerd glasses & making a new mission! I’m here to ensure more than 10% of writers make it past their first month.

Why? 90% of new writers quit within four weeks (millions of dreams are being crushed).

Medium is amazing, yet it’s happy to take your money without providing tutorials or tips on how to make it.

You don’t get a single nurture email after joining the Partner Programme.

There’s no single video tutorial to give you the tips needed to survive.

Not a single dickie bird about managing expectations or your mindset when the inevitable disappointment sets in.

Okay, they did a pub crawl, but that’s like gifting a Foozeball table once morale is in the toilet after the purge.

Newbie Mediumites deserve the info needed to flourish in this crowded ecosystem.

And that’s why I’m taking it upon myself to shake things up and right a wrong.

I joined Medium to write about copywriting, marketing and old-school English (not Medium).

I’ll still write about these topics, but I’m digging into my coaching and teaching days for April.

Good to know: The first battle is overcoming hobgoblins in any endeavour.

Many people call this imposter syndrome, but to be honest, you’re not an imposter when you’re learning a new skill or platform from scratch.

Therefore, let’s call it overcoming hobgoblins or self-doubt.

Having suffered from these things for years and finding a way to ignore the nasty voices, I’m more than qualified to talk about overcoming it.

What to expect in April

I’ll work on a more concrete plan after the Easter weekend.

But here’s a loose overview of what I’ll be writing about.

  • One stats report to show my progress in March (coming soon)
  • Tips on remaining focused when growth seems impossible (mindset tips)
  • How to think like a millionaire to help you endure slow read days
  • Tips on how to write on Medium
  • I’m a copywriter, so I’ll also show examples of really good copy
  • My big fat Etsy failure and how it prepared me for Medium
  • I still reserve the right to write the occasional wild card (gotta make this fun)

Small caveat: I was supposed to plan out my entire month on Easter Sunday, but I decided to drink Sheridans and watch The Grand Tour while having the house to myself instead.

If you find typos or errors in this story, it’s because I was a little merry while writing it!

I’ll aim to write one story daily, but it could be more.

What’s my dream?

➡️ Create content that is the truest, most authentic expression of my personality, preferences, and gifts. ➡️ Being supported by some of the most incredible writers on Medium (sometimes I feel like I have to pinch myself!). ➡️ Create the dream schedule and balance between my 9 to 5 and becoming a 2-hour writer on Medium. ➡️ Find a Medium bestie and accountability partner (applications open).

My Medium goals for April:

  • Make $250+ on Medium in April
  • Attract 250+ more followers in April
  • Engage with at least 30+ writers per day
  • Increase views and reads by more than 75%
  • Publish at least one story per day
  • Use more images from Upsplash to increase speed
  • Plan out the month and batch-cook content
  • Take one day off from Medium a week (I might publish but not reply to comments — thanks, Lea Bardot, for the inspiration to slow down)

Love my content?

Click here to buy me a coffee (no obligations) because your generosity will help me work toward lifestyle freedom to bring even more great content.
