Day Tripping: October 9
Imagine

Some people remain with us long after they left this Earth more than some who still occupy space here. He would have been 81 years old today. Over the years, we have lost many noted figures through tragic events; plane crashes, car wrecks, or self-inflicted accidents.
Is it irony or coincidence that a man who preached peace would die at the hands of a mindless assassin? Regardless, he would still find a positive spin.
“Everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, it’s not the end.”
John Lennon’s final album, Double Fantasy was a critical failure when it was released a month after his 40th birthday. That likely had more to do with half the record being songs by Yoko. But, the message on that record oozed positivity and John’s new lease on life.
At least for five years from his 35th birthday, Lennon knew what it was like to be a full-time father. He may have been Watching the Wheels Go Round, but for 40 years John Lennon had a full life.
Gone But Never Forgotten
Today is:
Beer and Pizza Day — Hmm. let me think. This should have its own month, actually.
Dessert Day — Well, yeah!
Musical Ride
Outside the Dakota apartments in New York City's Central Park, Strawberry Fields was dedicated in John Lennon’s memory in 1985. With funding from Yoko Ono, the parkette has become a destination for Beatles fans from all over the globe.
Interesting Notes
In 2000, Rolling Stone Magazine released the complete interviews with John Lennon on the anniversary of his 60th birthday. The transcripts were previously withheld because of their controversial nature.
