So Many Talents

In 1945, John Lithgow was born into a theatrical family in Rochester, New York. His mother was a retired actress and his father was theatre producer. After growing up on the road because of his father’s work, John attended and graduated from Harvard University in 1967 for History and Literature.

Also an accomplished musician from childhood, John was convince by a university professor to pursue an acting career. In 1970, Lithgow made his film debut and he hasn’t stopped working since, beginning with the Broadway stage.
John Lithgow also found time to make three children’s music albums and perform the voice of Lord Farquhar in Shrek.
When he was a guest on Finding Your Roots, Lithgow learned he was descended from eight passenger who were aboard the Mayflower.

Musical Ride
The New Yardbirds performed under that name for the last time at Liverpool University in 1968. After that night, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Paul Jones, and John Bonham renamed the band Led Zeppelin.

Gone But Not Forgotten
Before playing Ritchie Cunningham’s dad on Happy Days, Tom Bosley was a Tony Award winning stage actor. He died in 2010 at 83.
