Truly one of the oddest days of the calendar year is November 1. On this day in history:
1512 — the first exhibition of Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel frescos occurred.
1604 — Shakespeare’s Othello was first performed.
1800 — John Adams became the first occupant of the White House.
1894 — Nicholas II became the last Tsar of Russia.
1922 — After taking Constantinople, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk declares the end of the Ottoman Empire by naming the Republic of turkey

Prolific author Stephen Crane was born in 1871. In the last four years of his tumultuous short life, Crane published five novels, two books of poetry, and a hundred short stories. The author who is best known for The Red Badge of Courage died in 1900. He was only 28.

Brian May of Queen inducted Black Sabbath into the British Rock Hall of Fame. Yes, they have one too.
While the band performed Paranoid, lead singer Ozzie Osbourne mooned the crowd thinking they weren't getting in the spirit.
Gone But Not Forgotten
Fred Thompson took the opposite route from most celebrities. The politician turned actor appeared in Law and Order and several hit movies. Thompson passed away in 2015 at the age of 73.
