Jeter played his entire career spanning twenty years as the New York Yankees shortstop. When he was voted into the Hall Of Fame, he received 396 of 397 votes on the first ballot, and his number 2 has been retired by the Yankee ball club, a rare feat on both counts, indeed.

World Refrigeration Day — It may seem puzzling for something like refrigeration to have its own day, but the significance of this vital technology cannot be discounted. Aside from the advances it has allowed the food industry to enjoy over the years, we should remember the impact refrigeration has had on us all recently with vital vaccines kept ready and fresh for use to combat COVID-19.

Canoe Day — When only a river runs to the place you want to be, whether as a destination or for pure enjoyment, the canoe is a craft favored by millions around the world. There’s something to be said for the peace and solitude a canoe provides when all you really want is to get away from it all. Paddle until your heart’s content.

Chocolate Pudding Day — A lovely decadent treat after a day of canoeing, and a dollop of whipped cream or ice cream on the side is definitely a welcome addition.

Gone But Not Forgotten

Nora Ephron was an acclaimed screenwriter and filmmaker whose credits include Silkwood, When Harry Met Sally, and Sleepless In Seattle. She died in 2012 of pneumonia from complications of her leukemia. Nora’s funeral was attended by an ‘A’ list of stars and filmmakers too numerous to mention.
