Greatness in Many Forms

Rock drummers have always been a special breed, but no more so than Keith Moon who was born in 1946. The famous hotel room trasher and drum set smasher also had a thing for blowing up toilets.

“I told people I was a drummer before I even had a set, I was a mental drummer"

Take what meaning you will from that statement. But, when Keith Moon played with The Who, he never disappeared to the rear of the stage. A true showman and one of a kind.

Musical Ride

Sometimes while he was playing lead guitar and singing for Queen, Brian May was studying at Imperial College in London. In 2007, May earned, yes earned a PhD in astrophysics.

Interesting Notes

After five days of being held hostage at a botched bank robbery in Sweden, the hostages started sympathizing with the robbers. The term Stockholm Syndrome was coined for the city where the event took place in 1973.

Gone But Not Forgotten

George Fisher left his home in Harlem, New York to become actor and singer Brock Peters. After appearing in the film version of Porgy and Bess, Peters gained fame and acclaim for his role as Tom Robinson in To Kill A Mockingbird.

Also a notable singer, Brock sang backup vocals on Harry Belafonte’s big hit Day-O. Brock Peters died in 2005 at the age of 78.
