Blood Plum Dusk
A poem — night’s soft fall
This persistent pleasure, found in night’s soft fall; the delight at her rising eye, the moon — perhaps because I am a child of night, emerging at birth, from one darkness into another
this bite of blood plum, sweet in my mouth infused with cool luminescence of early evening starlight, purpled like the clouds with the indolent dusk, disguising me as another still shadow
amongst the tree-tops, perched like a raven, with night in her beak, surveying the hushed sweep of street, quiet queen of her domain
