A Small Fish in a Sea Full of BIG Whales…but I’m Growing

Every project can be a learning experience

In the Crypto/Defi realm of things, I’m a small fish in a sea full of BIG whales. (But I’m growing…)

Here’s a little recap of my story in the Crypto/Defi world & what I learned along the way. You never know. Maybe it will help you out as well…

(NONE OF WHAT I WRITE IN MY ARTICLES IS TO BE TAKEN AS INVESTMENT ADVICE. I am not an advisor for this nor am I suggesting any financial action on your part. DYOR)

In the beginning

I first heard about crypto several years ago, but didn’t do anything.

I wasn’t really interested in it at the time & though that it was just another one of those fads out there. I thought that it was going to flare up for a little while & then go away, just like a normal fad would. It’s popularity would grow with a small group of people. The real world would come back in & then crypto would be gone.

(Fortunately, I was wrong!)

I got a Coinbase account several years ago, but didn’t really do much with it at the time.

I then started playing around with crypto in Coinbase about 4 years ago. I had let my account just sit there & do nothing for several years. I saw that crypto wasn’t really going anywhere, like the usual fads. So I thought I should at least learn about it some more.

Thus, I started earning though Coinbase learning. I also started trying to time the market & trade tokens, like those day traders I had been hearing about. I lost more than I won. At least what I lost was mostly the free crypto I had earned from those learning modules.

I still do those from time to time…FREE is FREE!

Defi & My Crypto Friend

I watched a few videos on YouTube about something called Defi, & how it was a great way to make some money in crypto.

I then invested into Cakedefi, on the Defichain.

I started small, just enough to get the bonus, then grew it along the way. I really didn’t do very much research into this project. I just saw that it had high ratings on YouTube. So I joined it.

I then got introduced to the Defi part of crypto, which is different than Cakedefi, by my crypto friend.

He told me to move my money out of CakeDefi & into something else that was more profitable. At first, I didn’t listen to him & left my money there for a long time. I finally moved all my funds out of that project & invested them into several other Defi projects a few weeks ago.

I actually did listen to him & invested into some of the other Defi projects.

Gamefi Projects

Anyways, my first defi project was WonderHero.

I was surprised that I could actually make money by playing a video game. (My dream had finally come true!) In the end, I had to open up my eyes & see reality again.

I invested some funds into that Gamefi project, after making a profit.

I thought that the more I put in it then the more I would make. I had no idea about the earning lifespan of so many projects. So I put more & more money into that project.

In the end, I left that project in the red & got into another Gamefi project, Tiny World.

Tiny World, in my opinion, is better designed & has multiple marketplaces. Plus, it is an idle game. This means that it doesn’t take up as much time to play & strategize as other games. You can just get it started & it goes on its own.

I really enjoyed playing Tiny World & though that the earning opportunities are better then they were in Wonder hero.

As a matter of fact, I still play Tiny World from time to time. I’m just not putting any more of my money into that project for the time being. I haven’t been able to make any more money from it in a little over a month.

My items aren’t selling very well in the marketplaces, like they were in the past.

Miners

With our income going down in the Defi games, my crypto friend introduced me to Dapp Miners.

This was exciting! I would actually get to make even more money online! (I didn’t even know or think about the learning curve in this area as well.)

We then started investing in several projects.

  • Baked Beans v1 — Made Ok money but the TVL stayed down & took earnings with it. Haven't’ invested in version 2 of this miner yet.
  • Parrot Miner — A small miner that I invested in without doing any research. It rugged & drained my wallet. OUCH!!! (This is why I have different wallets for different projects & a wallet that isn’t connected to anything.)
  • BNB Miner — This is the longest running miner that I know about. It’s been running for over 700 days!!! I’ve been making money with this miner since 5/6/22. I’ll be invested in this miner for a year, in a few more months. You can read about my latest strategy with it here.
  • BUSD Crops Farmer — The TVL & my earnings went way down. I wasn’t earning enough to pay for gas fees. I lost $30 on this miner.
  • Baked Cats Miner — I was making great money with this project. Then they rugged. I then lost $65.
  • Solar farm v1 & v2 — I really enjoyed these miners & made a lot of money with them. Like the others, the TVL went down & took my earnings with it. I did do another $10 test run a while back but wasn’t able to make ROI. So I got out again.

Writing on Medium

While I was investing in the miners, I came across several projects that posted updates via Medium articles.

I eagerly read these articles, looking for new insight into the projects & planning for the future. I discovered that I needed to be a paying member in order to view all the articles. I wanted to know what was happening in these projects & $5 wasn’t that much money. So I became a paying customer.

I then discovered that the people writing these articles actually made money from Medium, because of these articles.

It opened my eyes again to another earning opportunity. I could write about my progress through these projects & make money with my writing as well! I then started working on fulfilling the requirements for joining the Medium Partnership program.

So, on 7/23/22, I wrote my first Medium article.

I have been writing about my progress through these projects & more ever since.

I look at Medium as another source of income.

  • If I lose money in a project then I can write about it & what I learned from it. I’ll get paid for the article.
  • If I gain money in a project then I can write about it & make money from the article as well.
  • If find that my strategy isn’t working then I can write about it & get paid anyway.
  • If I have an idea about a better strategy then I can write about it & make even more money.

So now I write about all kinds of things concerning my crypto & other adventures.

You can start writing on Medium just like I did by clicking the link below.

Growth…

Photo by Markus Spiske on Unsplash

I’m still a small fish, just not as small as I once was…

Along the way, I’ve been learning & growing. Sometimes, it’s painful. Sometimes, it’s not. But it is still fun.

I’m still making mistakes, & learning from them (hopefully). I’m still having successes & learning from them as well. I really enjoy the challenge.

I’m also learning that sometimes, less is more. (Hey, that would be another great article to write about. So I better not steal my own thunder by writing too much here. Keep a look out for it in the near future…)

My investments have been growing sometimes not so steady, but surely.

It’s interesting for me to look back & see that I invested a lot into the games, then had smaller investments into the miners, & now am investing even more into even better projects.

I’ve been very blessed with the newer projects that I’m invested in at the moment.

  1. BNB Miner — The same miner as listed above. I’m still making money with this project…
  2. Adstaker — This is an advertising project. Most people use it to gain referrals & get sells in other projects they are with.
  3. DRIP Faucet — I’m still making some money from this project, even though the DRIP has been down. Hopefully, it will come back up with some of the new upcoming features & enhancements on deck.
  4. Pig Pen, in Animal Farm — So I invested with this project back in October. I’m still working out the details & trying to make ROI in it.
  5. Farm of Fortune — This is the first Fortune Hunters project that I invested with, way back in October. It has been constantly growing & earning money ever since then. This has become my favorite project so far. I now have 2 accounts in this project.
  6. Mischief of Fortune — This is the second project I’m with in the Fortune Hunters ecosystem. I’m earning 1% daily using USDC in this project. I also have 2 accounts here, for extra growth.

In Conclusion. But not the end…

So as you can see, I’ve been growing along the way & you can too.

If you are reading this & are on the fence about investing into the crypto/defi space then do more research. More research is always better. You will learn how & why a project works.

But you will never grow unless you start. So get started already!

I am very thankful & feel very blessed with my journey so far. It has been a great adventure & the future is looking bright. It is good for me to look back on the past from time to time & realize how far I’ve come.

I’m still a small fish in a sea full of giant whales…but I’m still growing!
