a poem that’s supposed to rhyme

Uncle Cho was massaging the skin under the turkey, makes the skin crispy, it’s not because he’s quirky, sitting in the corner for observation was the sneaky ol’ cat, yes, the one who once, from a basin, pulled out a bat. The doorbell rang, so I stood up to greet. my actually weird Uncle Bor, who, from his pocket, pulled out a slab of meat.

Hi, I’m Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) and this is my weekly practice for rhymes. So sure, I got them to rhyme in paired lines, but I really have to work on the syllables within the lines! Always such a work in progress, and I share these because I want to illustrate that poetry isn’t just some one-and-done deal and that behind the scenes there might be Uncle Cho getting his hands dirty to make sure his poetry is crisp. His turkey, I mean. My poetry.
