Crazy Results In My First Month On Medium! Here’s My Stats
I got so much more than I expected. My mind has been blown away, here’s what I’ve achieved.
I started writing haphazardly on Medium around November. I published a few articles and barely got any views.
December 31 2023, was the day I started writing consistently. So, it’s been a month of writing.
I’ve read many other writers’ articles about their first months on Medium, so I‘m excited to write my own!
Views
645 views! My goal was only 150 for this month, so I overshot it quite a bit.
I’ve noticed my read ratio isn’t too good, sitting at roughly 45%. By studying the articles with low read ratio though, I can learn from my mistakes:
- Write an engaging intro to hook readers
- Make sure the title is aligned with the writing (not clickbait)
- Format articles nicely
My views also fluctuated like a mountain range! I hope next month’s views will be a little more stable.
But overall, views are trending upwards!
In comparison, these were my December stats of haphazard writing:
Writing consistently and seriously on Medium really made a difference!
Audience
You can see the previous two months, where I only gained 20 followers. And in January, I’ve already gained 176, and sitting just shy of 200!
I know it’s a lot less than many other writers, but I’m pretty happy about the growth.
I also have 8 email subscribers now, which I was super surprised by! I never thought anyone would want to subscribe to get my articles.

In 31 days, I’ve churned out 36 articles.
Some have flopped, but others have done quite well! This is the article I wrote on my most viewed, and highest earning one.

Earnings
I’m over the moon! For my first month, which I had absolutely zero expectations for, the results were incredible!
$54.98?? That averages out to $1.77 per day, and $1.52 per article
That’s crazy! You can also see my 4 highest earning articles, which follows the Pareto principle. 80% of the results come from 20% of the work.
Never in a million years would I have believed that I could make this much just sharing my thoughts with the world.

Note: The $0.65 from December was from December 31, the day I joined the Parter Program. But I’d still count January as my first month.
