Opinions

  • The article suggests that economic power may contribute to the speed of vaccine rollout, implying that wealthier countries may have an advantage in combating the pandemic.
  • It conveys a sense of optimism regarding the global vaccination effort, referring to it as a "race to reopening," but also acknowledges the enormity of the task for more populous countries.

Coronavirus did not discriminate between the rich and poor. But does having a large economy help Countries in defeating the Coronavirus faster?

Vaccines are the only thing that can put life back on track.

Look at how the top 15 Countries with the highest GDP fare in this race to reopening.

“Countries reopening” Ah! that wasn’t a phrase anyone would think of sometime before. Colleges and shops reopen, not countries!

USA, and UK, are the countries that are the fastest in giving at least one dose of vaccination to a substantial portion of their population.

You can see China and India have been successful in rolling out a large vaccination program. But their large population means that they are nowhere close to fully vaccinating its citizens.

To give you a simpler view, this is where the countries stand in terms of a percentage of the population receiving a jab.

More populous countries have an uphill task ahead.

Most of the existing vaccines require two doses.

That makes the job for governments and health workers twice as tough.

There is a long way to go on this path. See below the status of countries fully vaccinating their citizens. Even countries that seemed to have nailed it in earlier depictions have a long way to go to reach full vaccination.

Till then, stay safe and healthy
