COVID-19 Vaccination Stats Of Top 15 Countries By Population
How close is the world to ending this pandemic?
Coronavirus, a dreadful monster imprisoned us in our homes. It’s been more than a year! Many lost their loved ones to this pandemic. Others live in constant fear, trying to protect themselves and their loved ones. People are developing mental health issues. Some lost livelihoods. Overall, the picture is still gloomy.
Vaccines are the only ray of hope.
Only by vaccinating the world against the coronavirus can things go back to normal. To live our lives as we still remember. Where does the world stand with this gigantic task?
Let’s look at the vaccination status of the top 15 counties by population…
China, USA, India, UK, and Brazil are the countries that are the fastest. They are leading in the total doses administered. But does that give you the full picture? No.
A higher number of doses administered does not mean that the countries are any closer to reopening.
“Countries reopening” Ah! that wasn't a phrase anyone would think of sometime before. Colleges and shops reopen, not countries!
To put things in perspective, you will need to look at the overall population of the country.
Now you can see a clearer picture. Populous countries like India, Brazil, and Bangladesh are still far away from vaccinating their people.
Don't get misled by the figures of 72 doses per 100 people. It does NOT mean that 72% of people are vaccinated. These are the total doses administered. Most vaccines need TWO doses. Out of the 72 doses, many would have gone to the inoculation of the same people. Hence, these are merely indicators of the speed of vaccination with respect to the population.
Here is how many vaccines doses these countries are able to roll out daily per 100 people.
Look at India, they have administered over 125 million doses.
One would be forgiven to think that India is far ahead in vaccinating its people. But the reality is that this is nothing compared to the total population of India of over 1.3 billion.
For an accurate portrayal of the ground reality, look at the stats as a total percentage of the population that is vaccinated. See, India is not even in the top 5!
This is where the world stands now. The U.K. is ahead in vaccinating its population and has already reopened. The U.S. also closing in with their inoculation drive.
However, the saga will come to its conclusion only when each person gets TWO doses of the vaccine (in most cases).
