Summary

The article discusses the evolving situation with the COVID19 outbreak, including research findings, treatment developments, public health responses, and societal impacts.

Abstract

Researchers from Imperial College London have estimated that only 1 in 19 people with the virus in Wuhan have been tested, suggesting a possible underestimation of the fatality rate. Misinterpretations of the Imperial College press release and Zerohedge's reporting have fueled conspiracy theories, while Germany reports cases of prolonged viral shedding in patients. The article also touches on the ethical and legal implications of reports suggesting COVID19 may contain HIV insertions, and the potential reasons behind China's change in calculating infected individuals. The case of Steve Walsh, initially labeled a "super spreader," is clarified, along with updates on his recovery and discharge from the hospital. The article further highlights the global response to the virus, including hospital preparedness, organ donation campaigns, and the impact on events and sports. It also addresses the situation in Hong Kong, where the virus has affected property rentals and banks' support for homeowners, as well as the global spread of misinformation and racism related to the outbreak.

Opinions

  • The author suggests skepticism regarding the accuracy of official COVID19 figures and the potential for misinformation.
  • There is a concern that the virus's fatality rate may be significantly higher than initially reported.
  • The article implies that China's method of calculating infected individuals may be influenced by a desire to manage public perception and resources.
  • The author notes a sense of irony and frustration with the term "super spreader" and its application to Steve Walsh.
  • There is a critique of the societal impact of the virus, including the closure of public spaces and the postponement of events.
  • The piece reflects on the ethical and legal questions raised by the possibility of COVID19 containing HIV insertions.
  • It also highlights the plight of individuals under quarantine and those, like the passengers of the Westerdam cruise ship, who face challenges in finding a safe port amidst the outbreak.
  • The author points out the spread of xenophobia and racism, emphasizing that "Racism is the Real Virus."
  • There is a mention of the Chinese government's surveillance measures and the suppression of information, juxtaposed with the public's demand for trans

Coronavirus Relaunches As COVID19

Let us cheer ourselves with the latest news about the Coronavirus… sorry COVID19 or 2019nCOV… (if you are German)

Researchers at Imperial College London have estimated that 1 in 19 people, in Wuhan, who have the virus have been tested. Quite how the Imperial College statement converts to a fatality rate 19x higher than the official figure: is anyone’s guess. Yes, it’s a bot, or a prankster, pitching for a Sam Hyde moment, but why choose such a low figure?

Alien Faces Appear

Especially when by deliberately misreading both the Imperial College press release and Zerohedge’s reporting on it, 19 times the official number doesn’t come close to the ‘conspiracy theorists’ preferred figure: gleaned from the Taiwan News.

A second piece of information comes from Germany

I talked to Clemens Wendtner, who has been treating some of the German patients. He told me Monday evening that of four #COVID19 patients he had been treating for four weeks, three were still PCR-positive even though based on symptoms they would have been sent home by now.”

The thread by Kai Kuperschimdt is worth a read, as is the article in Science; they confirm the rumours about a “cure”. Leaving the ground to those who believe it to be a bio-weapon or a form of pneumonic herpes, And, if it is true that COVID19 has been ‘cut’ with HIV, it raises all sorts of ethical and legal questions.

It would also explain (apart from the financial angle) why China has adopted the new way of calculating those infected. Seeking to manage the virus, and resources.

Speaking of Steve Walsh (“Super Spreader”) the Brighton Argos has a timeline of his movements. Mr Walsh went to Singapore on January 20th, was diagnosed on the 6th of February, and taken to Guys Hospital in London.

Except, according to the BBC, he was (assuming Mr Walsh is the 3rd UK patient) taken to St Thomas’s Hospital. The confusion perhaps lies in the Harrison Wing, which specializes in treating HIV, was originally part St Thomas’s but is now part of Guys. Or maybe not… but regardless the current stories refer to him being treated at Guys and St Thomas’s: presumably the treatment does not involve splitting him in two.

To clear up matters, (as apparently Journalists can’t Google. Bing. or DuckDuckGo) Guys and St Thomas’s are the same hospital trust….

So anyway… Steve Walsh is no longer a ‘super spreader’ (after 6 days)… and will shortly be appearing on the Masked Singer, Strictly, and at the Old Bailey suing Katie Hopkins.

Between sneezes I notice Blackpool Victoria Hospital has opened an isolation pod (just in time for the Pleasure Beach), the NHS is advertising the details of organ donation (with the inappropriate hashtag #passiton), a GP surgery has been closed in Bracknell and, a drug dealer transferred from Thailand has been doing some ‘super spreading’ in prison.

Lest we forget… ‘Racism is the Real Virus’… no it really is

Frankly not being a fan of badmington, volleyball, or Formula 1, the situation with Hong Kong’s drains is of more interest. Especially as landlords are finding it difficult to rent out property and banks are having to step in to help homeowners with their mortgage…. oh and doctors are limited to one face mask a day… (don’t get them from these guys)

Back to the crucial question, can Hong Kong Fluey sneak up the U-bend and get you in the flux of diarrhea?

But as we knowRacism is the Real Virus’… and don’t you dare laugh at these people

Paranoid right-wing types, have long worried about the CHI-COMS and their surveillance system. And the Chinese are beginning to worry about it too. While their people demand the freedom to tell the world what is happening, and the government closes down parts of the interwebz: a novel method has been devised to track people… should the police wish to take you temperature

Sadly not everyone can take the strain of quarantine

Spare a thought for those on the latter day Flying Dutchman, The Westerdam, who still cannot find a port that will allow them to dock.

Oh and, Japan has banned more Chinese from visiting….

But

It’s only flu
