One day, I received a notification that Francisco Iglesias had mentioned me in his article. This immediately piqued my interest, especially since I didn’t know Francisco. Unable to resist, I clicked and opened the article to see how an unfamiliar person had mentioned me. What next…?

To my delight, I discovered that my article “Tip — How a Cup of Coffee Helped Me Boost Traffic on My Medium Blog” was highlighted in “My Top 5 Must Reads Of the Day#12,” holding the second spot. The fact that Francisco had found my article and included it in his Top 5 list pleasantly surprised me. But that’s not all…

Here are some comments left under my coffee article.

Francisco had also written a wonderful review of my article in an amazing style, along with a rating that made me feel proud and appreciated. Here is an excerpt from Francisco Iglesias’ review:

I am even more pleased that English is not my native language. I hesitated for a long time to write in English and even started this blog in Polish.

No one was interested in reading my articles in Polish!

A brief digression. So far, I have only used English for reading technical documentation and communicating with colleagues from BMC Software, an American company whose products I have been implementing in Poland since 2001.

I was surprised to find out that I would be able to write a blog in English and that someone would want to read my texts in English.

Going back to the incredible story of Francisco, one memory of mine triggered a flurry of activity on my part. If he were here, I would certainly give him a big hug. Instead, I wrote a comment with thanks:

“We’ve been writing a little more…”

I never imagined that interacting with readers and their reactions could bring so much joy. It encourages me to write more and share my experiences and thoughts with others.

I wouldn’t have written this article if it weren’t for Francisco and his repeated mentions and encouragement for people to share their feelings.

This time, Francisco invited readers who were mentioned to share how they reacted and how they perceive being mentioned. I decided to respect what Francisco does for others and share my thoughts on the topic of mentioning.

Continuing the movement initiated by Francisco: Mention-For-Mention, I have decided to mention the esteemed readers who have read the article about my coffee method, so they can see how mentioning other authors or readers in an article works. I even listed how many claps each person gave!
