Summary

The web content presents a poem titled "Colors" that draws inspiration from the contemporary bossa nova sounds of Da Lata's song "Cores," reflecting on the interplay of music, color, and emotion.

Abstract

The website features a poetic piece that captures the essence of new shades of bossa nova through vivid imagery and sensory experiences. The poem "Colors" paints a picture of musical elements such as "solar summoning shimmers" and "sonar notes through deep green," evoking a sense of emotional depth and movement. It is a creative response to Da Lata's track "Cores," which has been known for blending Afro-Brazilian rhythms with jazz and funk from a UK perspective for several decades. The lyrics of the song, described as very poetic, have directly influenced the words of the poem. This work is part of a July Summer Music Challenge, where the author produced bossa nova-inspired poetry or stories for 31 days, including contributions from Terry Barr with memoirs about summer and music.

Notes:

This poem was inspired by a contemporary iteration of bossa nova in Da Lata’s Cores. Da Lata have been fusing Afro-Brazilian sounds through jazz and funk out of the UK for a few decades.

The lyrics are very poetic — in true bossa nova form — and inspired the words above.
